From Matt Law.
Enzo Maresca's Chelsea rotation policy has the full backing of the club's ownership and sporting directors. Chelsea accept the rotation is likely to provide bumps in the road, such as the draw at Qarabag, in the first half of the season but believe it will bring long-term reward.
I don't mind rotation of good players but we currently have some very poor options. Maresca resisted the temptation to play Jorgensen which tells me he has seen enough and he will join the bomb squad in the summer. After last night Tosin surely has to be left out of the squad going forward and there are serious doubts about Santos and the Brighton loanee who offers nothing. I doubt Guiu will get much game time and will be off in the summer and with the Sporting Lisbon winger already signed I think one of Gittens or Garnacho will move on. George offers very little and may well be sold in January and the jury is out on Hato and Delap although I expect both will stay and be given time. By all means rotate, especially after the CWC denied the players a proper break afforded to other clubs but the fringe players must be good enough. Anyway, 6 wins and a draw in the last 8 games despite huge rotation is not too bad so I must stop moaning??.

Interesting post Greenaway and agree with many of your inclusions.

I think the summer should br used to get more quality in the squad rather than more youngsters from nurseries.

So you aren't pleased with the youngest player we signed then Bill? Estevao is just 18 but for me is already one of our best players.

Very happy Greenaway however I beleive that we need more experience in the squad, hopefully starters in order to compliment our talented youngsters.

Jorgensen should be replaced probably by Penders , don't think Tosin is good enough George will be sold.
Think Delap Hato and Gittens are here for the mid to long term, wouldn't be surprised if Garnacho is flipped for a profit . Not sure on Guiu probably a loan, Buenotte has shown some nice touches but would be surprised if we keep him
There is some sorting out to do with some non starters Sterling Diasi etc and Jackson if Munich don't pick him up, as for what's going on with Mudryk god only knows.

I would have Jackson back in January if it was possible Seymns2, he would link well with Pedro and always linked well with Palmer. Maresca liked him and he is better than Guiu.

I'm not sure Jackson will want to come back, another Lukaku me think the new recruits need to be given more time and I hate to say it, I include Garnacho in that.
I really think in the summer we need to think about offloading some of our injury prone players, yes they are good but not when they are constantly on the treatment table.

A few months ago some posters and fans were calling for James to be sold because of his so called injury issues. Not many of those fans would want him sold now.

Tom, quite rightly a lot of fans were concerned about Reece’s constant absences through injury. Fingers crossed he will make it through this season without any major issues. That said, I don’t like him in midfield much prefer him playing in his natural position (s) . We should be more concerned about players we have paid significant fees for who have hardly kicked a ball.

Tom
I hope you are right about Reece but a note of caution, the season is still young.
08 Nov 2025 06:23:58
Bill, yes the season is still young unless it comes too sacking the manager or a player isn’t good enough.
I do have concerns about all players who get inured, especially the ones who at the moment seem to be consistently on the treatment table.
I want Badiashile, Fofana and Lavia fit for CFC not another club. I’m not giving up on them just yet but I am just as frustrated as the next Chelsea fan.
08 Nov 2025 08:29:57
Exactly Tom
And when they don't play, that's 3 players we cannot select from our squad which is a serious situation bearing in mind the games we play, it's putting too much strain on our other players.

Bill, I obviously would rather have a fully fit squad for the manager to choose a starting eleven. That of course means more likely rotation.
At the start of the season I believed that the manager would have to box clever with his squad. Having more players fit gives the manager more options to rotate. I’m happy with that but I bet some will say they would prefer a settled eleven.
