On the way home last night I was listening to various pundits give there opinions on the game.
One of the things mentioned several time was Palmers “reaction” at being hooked. I have no idea if the managers decision to hook him was based on a desire to manage his return to full fitness but to my eyes it was based on his reduced influence on the game. That point wasn’t mentioned by the pundits, they were just interested in the player being miffed.
I criticised our substitutions particularly the Gusto for Cucarella without knowing it was because the player said he was feeling an injury.
If I was going to replace Garnacho it would have been for Estavao and switched Neto to the left. I wouldn’t have hooked Pedro for Delap.
Our manager found himself in a position that was a reaction to there subs. In my opinion, he should have made them react to our substitutions. It was a very poor EM performance in my opinion.

I wouldn’t say I love Garnacho but generally he has been ok for us this season.
My main point is Palmer got hooked for having less and less influence on the game as they became more physical. I’m happy for players to be miffed when substituted or if they’re benched.
{Ed001's Note - I just don't see it with him at all. I think he is holding you back massively. He wastes so many good opportunities to play in others by wildly punting the ball into the crowd. It doesn't matter how much good a player does on the ball if his final touch is to put it into the stands. That end product is what makes a player, whether it be a pass or a shot or a cross, whatever, it has to be the right choice or you have just wasted everything that has come before. He is selfish in a team game. He has no team ethic at all. I should say this is an attacking player I mean. As a defensive player that is not as important obviously.}

My main point remains about Palmer being substituted.
People made there views well known about Garnacho prior to us signing him. From those descriptions my expectations were obviously low but I think so far he has been ok. I’m not in love with him, I don’t think he has been outstanding. I just think he has been ok.
I had no problems with him being subbed yesterday. My point was I would have brought on Estavao for him. In fact pre match I even suggested Estavao should start in front of him.

Garnacho is awful. No end product and a diva. In all honesty, we'd be better off playing sterling.

Garnacho is absolutely woeful and everyone other than the board knew it. Same with most of our wingers. Neto has improved this season but too often he does exactly what he did last night and messed up all the coumter attacks. Ill give gittens time but he's also been very unimpressive.

I would suggest that Palmer having less influence on the game as it progressed is more worrying than Garnacho.
I only brought his name up because I criticised EMs substitutions after the game.
My other focus was on the pundits making comments about Palmer being miffed rather than his performance.

Garnacho was the only player actually finding space and getting into dangerous positions.

Ed sadly the bar is so low right now in that LW position that Garnacho is a god send. Every time he comes off and gittens comes on we look terrible.

If Garnacho is a god send, we are really in the doggy do. The truth is that Gittens and Garnacho are very poor signings and that’s down to the SDs. They are are big part of the problem; if not the biggest.

The recruitment has been poor for years jimbo. Weve gone nowhere as a club despite spending 1.4 billion or something. I don't really know how they still have jobs to be honest.

Maybe because we got back into the top 4 and qualified for the champions league. We did also win two of the four cup competitions we were entered in.
The last window hasn’t worked out so far but after the early recruitment mistake I’m generally happy with the recruitment.
