I’m in a minority but I rate Gittens, he hasn’t started his Chelsea career well. I thought he looked a lot better yesterday on the right albeit against lesser opponents. Can only give him confidence.

Tom I think Gittens looked a lot better for the first twenty minutes or so yesterday when he seemed released or relaxed enough to. play as directly and confidently - successfully taking opponents on and getting in good passes, cut backs and shots - almost as if he was emulating Estevao. But then he seemed to revert to the far more tentative low impact slow in decision making player who we've seen too often in a blue shirt. What I would day is tgat he gave me a more sustained sighting rather than rare glimpses of why we bought and paid so much for him. and why you've seen something in him and have retained the faith that he can come good. Hato also had that glorious goal yesterday an showed more sustained quality if especially further forward and in attacking mode. further back i recall at least two dangerously sloppy misplaced passes.
Both will need to get more game time to gain more confidence to play in sustained way at their best. Will hope LR can get them there though of i were to have to chooae at this stage Id probably pick Hato as the more assured prospect. Will obviously hope for the best for both of them though.

Gittens has bags of talent Tom and if given chances will be a top top player, he has it all, tremendous pace, can go inside and outside, good with both pegs. Better than Garnacho for me.

Neither Gittens nor Garnacho should be anywhere near the first X1. They have no end product or football intelligence.

I hope you’re wrong. I outlined my one concern about Gittens when we signed him. I still remain very hopeful that issue can be addressed with good coaching.
