Unpopular opinion, I’m sure, but I’d put Cole up for sale before his value creeps down to what we paid for him.

He was electric for 18 months, but this year has been absolutely woeful. Can’t beat a man, barely has a touch anymore, and just waddles around the park offering close to nothing.

It could be that the squad doesn’t suit him, it could be that we play so slowly that he isn’t given opportunities to do what he use to do well. But I think it’s clear he has lost whatever spark he found and is being found out to be an average player.

I remember when we got Torres from Liverpool and all thought what an amazing steal it was, only for Liverpool players to slowly come out to say how evident it was he was no longer the Torres of old.

Only negative if we were to sell is that you know the money wouldn’t be spent wisely to replace him.

Sell Cole, Enzo, Gusto, Tosin, Garnacho, Delap, Sanchez and pray to God the ego of this team is replaced by heart.

When PSG supposedly made an inquiry about Palmer's availability, I asked posters on this site if they would sell, and it was a resounding "no." He has been injured a lot this season, so I wouldn't be rushing to sell.

Not unpopular, he's been rubbish.

As a neutral, it would be great to see him playing at PSG, if he finds his best form and sustains it. Currently, I'm not sure he would make their bench.

Will be amazing if we can have a backline consisting of Josh, Levi and Reece on an entirely unrelated note.

I wouldn't underestimate how much an (unstable is probably the right word) environment can have on a professional. It's seen quite commonly in the NBA. A top quality player will get traded to a bad one, play badly for a couple years and then get a trade to a contender and then all of a sudden they look quality again.

Palmer is clearly struggling with confidence and is not in a flow state at all. I'd also sell, but more so because this is not a good environment for young players, especially at present.

Yeah, but it's his job to sort it out. I feel zero empathy for the players who get paid more per week than most over 3 years and still put in zero effort. Cole doesn't fall into that boat, but does very little to help out defensively. As I said, as a neutral, it would be amazing if he found form in an incredible attacking team, as a Chelsea supporter, it's about time he works it out before he goes down as a one season wonder.

He ain't getting a ticket to the World Cup playing like this.

Selfish, but maybe him not going to the World Cup will make up his mind to have the operation that was said to be required for his injury.

04 May 2026 17:02:44
Oh, I agree, Tom. I feel like he's trying to be nonchalant about his poor form, but he knows it's not good enough.

04 May 2026 17:24:56
Standard, if reports are true, the club wanted him to have the operation but he didn't want it. He supposedly believed having the operation would harm his WC chances, and his preferred solution was to "manage" the injury.

Now, this is all media stories, so I have no idea as to its accuracy.

Melbourne, the way I feel now, I would sell all of the players! However, I would stick with Cole. As you alluded to, I would be concerned about how the Stoges would spend the money: probably on crap players like Gitttens, Garnacho and Delap.
