Yes, RIP to Mr Bates. Not exactly uncontroversial in his lifetime, but very pleasant to me on the one occasion I went up to him in Fulham Road outside the Bridge (Bates Motel?!) more than three decades ago. Tom probably had greater contact? He did help the club crucially at a time of need.

I had several chats and a one-off drink with KB. He always spoke his mind to me. No beating around the bush. I much preferred him to MH.
The club owes KB a lot, in my opinion. RIP.
