Supposedly after Richarlison from Fluminense - wow - only 20 but what a talent. Fingers crossed.

1.) 23 Jul 2017 12:09:36
is he really that good? i just watched about 45 minutes of him on you tube and even on there i didn't think he was that good, he didn't look as good as all the youngsters we already have.

2.) 23 Jul 2017 21:23:48
Do we need another non hg 20 yo?

Best performance since December - totally controlled game - unlucky not to win by more.

Good performances from the much-maligned (often by me! ) Bakayoko and Moses - also Palmieri - and, of course, Kante.

I believe so much in their (Moses, Bakayoko and Palmieri) ability for next season. Well done to Moses.

Very concerned about Conte's pre-match interviews - he seems very negative of getting into the top 4. Where has his bounce and enthusiasm gone? He strikes me as wanting to be anywhere but at Chelsea at the moment.

1.) 30 Mar 2018 15:30:28
Just when I thought we have found a long term coach in Conte. He's frustrated and would be leaving come end of the season. The board has let him down by not supporting him in his desired transfers.
Unfortunate he came around when cfc have decided to be spectator in the market. He's the passion and drive for the game like Mourinho but with less baggage.
Again I struggle to see a better replacement for him atm. Names being banded around do not feel me all optimism either. I would like to see Conte given more time and accorded necessary support in the transfer. I believe in him but it seems he had completely fell out with the board. However he would seamlessly get another big job given his reputation. Look how ordinary Guadiola was last season but became a coach and team once he sorted out desired transfer targets. In today's football, without adequate investments in the squad the best become average. Chelsea always had many worldies but I can't vouch for 4 in our team.

2.) 30 Mar 2018 20:34:39
I agree with a lot of this but would say conte hasn’t helped himself regarding being to open about frustrations with board and transfers. although his correct in what he has said you don’t air your laundry in public, and also tactically where we took teams by surprise and would press high and win ball back this year with all the extra games we haven’t pressed high and fast and been on back foot and to negative, I get frustrated with him and players, but if the board let him see last year out and backed him more with better attacking players then who knows the old conte would be back and enjoying time at Chelsea.

Am I the only one who thought our display on Wednesday was incredibly naive. It was like watching Tooting and Mitcham, drawn away at Manchester City in the Cup, and deciding to have a go but in the full knowledge that they would inevitably lose in the end.
The tactics have player-power written all over them; in all his years of management, Conte has never set out a team this way and I don't think he ever would. After Man City it was obvious that a few players were disgruntled with the defensive tactics; but to throw the baby out with the bathwater and go gung-ho against Barcelona was never going to work - Messi couldn't believe his luck and the space that our tactics afforded him.
Once again, we seem to have a team that is being controlled by the players and not the manager.

1.) 16 Mar 2018 15:23:44
MDW I agree, people complain about pragmatic football, but without a balanced approach is pointless. Look at PSG, they've a fantastic squad, but will never win the ucl until they add some discipline.

2.) 16 Mar 2018 22:52:57
what are you guys are even talking about? maybe we had a safe plan but it had to be thrown out after we conceded a goal in 3rd minute.

We had to score, we tried. I can even say we outplayed Barcelona on their own pitch.

We lost not because of our tactics bit because of silly mistakes, all 3 goals could have been avoided easily.

3.) 17 Mar 2018 11:01:02
I'm sorry, LRDit, but I disagree. At 1-0 down we only needed 1 goal to draw level and take it to extra time and penalties if need be. For some reason we went gung-ho and allowed them to play on the break - and, being Messi and Barca, they took full advantage. Naive, naive, naive.

4.) 17 Mar 2018 11:45:04
Having read the above post, would not say our performance was naive. I think we imposed our game on them. We conceded four goals over two games, all came from mistakes. Barcelona barely created a chance in the first game and only created chances after we were two down and chasing the game.
After the city game which was an absolutely disgaceful performance. And that was the managers tactics.
As I said at the time I would prefer to go and give it a go and try and win and lose 3-0 than not try and lose 1-0.
So let’s get the season over, sell courtoise and a couple of others. Then no doubt change of manager.
Let’s see what new season brings.

5.) 17 Mar 2018 12:35:58
Their only chances came from individual errors, not tactics, we created more had the ball more, it was gifting mistakes to a player like Messi that cost that game, and daft we have zero end product and that decisive final ball.

05 Mar 2018 14:53:55
Slutsky until the end of the season anyone?

1.) 05 Mar 2018 16:15:23
Anyone that isn't Conte is ok by me, he's looking like he wants to prove a point to the detriment of the team and he's also too defensive. I don't like him anymore- he isn't playing to the strengths of the key players.
I'm also beginning to think that the players Chelsea brought in are decent players but Conte doesn't seem to see their advantages cos most of them aren't the ones that he demanded for- Batshuayi tells a lot. There's nothing new he has to offer.

2.) 05 Mar 2018 18:16:01
Only deluded fools.

3.) 06 Mar 2018 16:33:48
Mr Turvey, your language is quite tough, ('only deluded fools') .

05 Mar 2018 12:49:37
I was livid and, like a lot of posters on here, wanted Conte gone. Having calmed down a bit, I am going to ask: what if Moses or Alonso's shots had gone and we had got a draw; would we be proclaiming Conte as a master tactician?

1.) 05 Mar 2018 13:14:36
No. Still don't like his approach. He wanted to minimise the damage not win. Game was lost before it started. What's the point of having creative players when we play with 10 defenders.

2.) 05 Mar 2018 13:52:23
I had a similar discussion with my brother in around the 90th minute. If Giroud would've scored a 94th minute equaliser we would've left the champions elect with a point which on the face of it is a good result.
The performance would still have been a disgrace but not the result.
I suspect the criticism would've been far less for conte if that was the case.

3.) 05 Mar 2018 19:57:58
Mocking a point wouldn’t of been good result, we needed all 3 points they can afford to drop points.

Without Hazard and Willian, the best performance of 2018 (although Hazard was superb when he came on) .

I'm not so sure that Burnley away on a Thursday night can be considered an easy game these days - Burnley have taken points from all of the top 6.

G8, how about a midfield and attack of:

Chalobah Kante de Bruyne

Salah Lukaku Hazard ?

Every time I watch City, Liverpool or United I weep!

Would we swap Willian (who we know Jose would like) for Martial?
