From the first half love Delap in my eyes will be a fan favourite Neto best player on the pitch Colwill will be top cente half
Sanchez with ball ar feet makes me so nervous.
20 Jun 2025 20:34:11
Gone pear shaped quickly Jackson unsound mentally red card every day of the week.
20 Jun 2025 21:02:21
Seymns, we will be seeing a bit more of Delap now in this tournament.
20 Jun 2025 21:16:14
I'm afraid at the moment, a headless chicken would have more composure than Jackson who is fast becoming a huge liability.
Not sure howclong the suspension is but I would notvplaybhim again during the rest of the CWC, that is if we even survive the group stages.
20 Jun 2025 21:32:24
Decent first half second half melt down indeed. Embarrassing.
20 Jun 2025 21:36:14
Bill, I’m not sure what suspension Jackson will get. I seem to remember it being two games for a straight red in this competition but I may well be wrong.
I’m now sure how EM punishes Jackson or even if he would want to in this competition but something needs to change.
I’m fed up with being vulnerable at the far post all the time. It’s so frustrating because it happens all the time.
20 Jun 2025 22:22:19
Whi do you think that is down to Tom?
21 Jun 2025 06:01:37
Bill, I think the responsibility lies with Jackson. That challenge was not exceptable and I was please that EM didn’t try to make any excuses.
21 Jun 2025 06:38:23
Bill, further to your question. I have now seen the apology from Jackson and correctly he has taken full responsibility.
He now has to prove that his lack of discipline is a thing of the past.
21 Jun 2025 10:06:21
He is costing us dear at the moment Tom, not we are left again with Delap and young Guiu.
21 Jun 2025 10:16:44
I'm also really fed up with Maresc playing James in midfield when we have avenue talented youngster in Santos needing games to bed in.
Play James at RB for God sake, and incidentally, the experiment failed miserabley.
21 Jun 2025 10:36:17
The experiment was to play without inverted fullbacks Bill, something I wanted to see. I hope Maresca doesn't bin it off after 1 game and go back to type.
21 Jun 2025 11:49:24
Greenaway, I was pleased to see that had reverted to a back four and he also played Palmer more on the right with Enzo supporting in the middle.
I can’t argue with the change of tactics because I have calling for more tactical flexibility.
21 Jun 2025 12:03:31
Bill, I think some players failed yesterday and not necessarily the tactics. I thought we were in control of the game and then three errors cost us dearly but they are a much better team than some pundits/ commentators think.
21 Jun 2025 12:19:46
Well put Tom.
21 Jun 2025 18:13:58
Tom, we were never in control of the game. Neto took the chance well for our goal but it came about by mistakes and lucky bounces. Other than not much else attacking creativity or chances added to woeful defending and tactics.
21 Jun 2025 19:04:41
Tom, you hope Jackson’s lack of discipline is a thing of the past- it was less than 24 hours ago- his apology was probably drafted by his agent.
21 Jun 2025 23:51:48
Jimbo, just a couple of points, I have zero problems with our manager showing some tactical flexibility.
It could be argued that they scored two goals from lucky bounces but I take the view you make your own luck.
I have zero idea who drafted Jackson’s apology. I would surprised if he didn’t seek approval before its publication. Is there some problem with him seeking and listening to advice? I repeat, I hope Jackson’s lack of self control is a thing of the past. I would be surprised if the majority of fans didn’t hope that was the case.
I call individual performances out from game to game.! regardless of who the player is or who the fans love.
22 Jun 2025 12:39:16
I like to judge each player and indeed the manager on each performance, it is easy to get carried away either with a positive or negative stance. Take the likes of Cucu and Moises who got pelters from pundits and fans alike and now look at them. On the flip side you have Palmer who has dropped off a bit and Gusto who has really fallen off the cliff lately having got great early reviews. Maresca the same, great start to his Chelsea reign then fell off the cliff and everyone wanting him gone only to come back and finish the season brilliantly. I would call myself passionate about the club but also level headed with an ability to see improvement and decline in equal measure and I certainly don't have agendas.
22 Jun 2025 12:44:08
Tom
You must have a big list after the Flamingo game.
22 Jun 2025 14:16:02
Greenaway, I agree with your Cucarella point.
I desperately try and judge players from game to game and like you that includes negative or positive assessments.
There are some players and now the manager that are struggling to convince a certain group of fans regardless of how they individually perform or the team performs.
Bill, I think two of our players were poor and they were Gusto and Palmer. I thought that Neto was about. 7/ 10 and the remaining players about a 6/ 10. I didn’t we looked in any trouble until that mad ten mins but generally we looked just flat. I’m hoping for a few changes for the next game. The manager and medical team have to be careful if it is as hot as they say it will be.
22 Jun 2025 17:51:35
The reason fans were disappointed with Cucurella and Caicedo was that they were signed for big fees and had PL experience. Both have had good seasons although sometimes Cucurella’s defending leaves a lot to be desired. Speaking of which, we don’t really have cover at left back. I know some would say Colwill can play at left back but frankly when he has he looks out of place and exposed. Just because a player can play in a different position doesn’t mean it’s a good idea hence James is totally wasted in midfield and not particularly effective. Gusto has been poor but I have sympathy with him, he is clearly not comfortable in the role he is being asked to play. In conclusion, play players in their strongest positions rather than trying to be Pep lite and and over dogmatic.
22 Jun 2025 17:56:23
Tom, I don’t think there will be many changes having regard to the result on Wednesday. This should have been the game for having a look at the squad.
22 Jun 2025 18:21:15
Gusto can and has played LB and we have just extended an academy players contract who plays LB. I hope we don’t sign a player that blocks his path to the first team.
Cucarella had a complete season of poor performances and problems including some personal family issues. The point isn’t about his fee it was just about him having an awful season and how things can change.
Caicedo was always class but just took a few games to settle. So he got pelters after before he had even kicked a ball for the club and after a few games.
There are players in the current squad who some fans don’t rate and it will probably take one hell of a long time and constantly good performances for those fans to admit they were wrong! I obviously hope they do change fan’s opinion for obvious reasons.
22 Jun 2025 19:02:26
Tom, the fee is part of the reason Cucurella got pelters whether you accept it or not. Have you changed your opinion about Sterling?
22 Jun 2025 19:42:05
Jimbo, I was certainly prepared to give Sterling a chance to impress in Chelsea colours. I am the same with all our signings. I gave up on him ages ago and particularly after I was told by a person I trust that he is happy not to play for Chelsea and collect his salary.
Jimbo, I have no idea why some fans don’t like certain players and why they find it almost impossible to even acknowledge a good performance or performances.
I made an assumption a long time ago that some people would prefer to be right about a player or manager performing poorly rather than being proved wrong. It goes back to the sites being busier when a team or player has performed poorly. I think it was one of the Ed’s who made that observation.
22 Jun 2025 20:55:29
Tom, you are entitled to your assumptions. However, it might be that fans and posters are spot on about poor signings and managerial appointments rather than being proved right or sitting on the fence.
22 Jun 2025 22:08:02
Jimbo, of course fans will be proved right on occasions and wrong on occasions. I would have thought that was blindingly obvious.
The point I think being made by Greenaway is we are all occasionally wrong in our assessment of players and managers.
I personally also agree with Greenaway in preferring to judge a player and manager from game to game. I don’t see that as sitting on the fence and in my case it hinders any subconscious agenda I might have against a player, manager, SD’s or owners.
22 Jun 2025 22:40:05
Tom, some fans will be right more often and some wrong more often. Judging players and managers game by game :absolutely ludicrous.
23 Jun 2025 06:15:00
Jimbo, managers can make mistakes in team selection and tactics from game to game and there is nothing “ludicrous” about giving criticism or praise about those type of issues before and after each game.
Of course some fans will get more calls correct some seasons than other fans, that’s blindingly obvious as well.
As usual, I like some other fans, will give criticism and praise from game to game about the playing side of Chelsea and I will make my overall assessment at the end of the season.
At the end of last season i posted my assessment of the players, manager, SD’s and owners and I will almost certainly do the same at the end of this coming season.
