Bashir Humphreys sold for £14 million pure homegrown profit. I guess that offsets a £70 million amortized new player? So that pays for Gittens or Pedro with money left over. Fairly easy way to satisfy the UEFA naughty step punishment.

Greenaway, I’m not an accountant and I’m certainly not an expert on UEFA’s PSR rules but I have my doubts that a £14m sale, albeit a 100% profit will satisfy the demands from UEFA but obviously I hope it does.

I have no idea about the period the potential player registration sanction would apply and all also have no idea what player or players signings would enter the UEFA calculations, if that makes sense?

If I have read The Times story correctly, they are “suggesting” we need a “Nett” £60 sales profit before the Champions League player registration date. I have no idea if that is the usual paper scare mongering.

Greenaway I read somewhere that UEFA don't let payments spread out over the contracts come into their rules so if you spend £70 MILL you need £70 million of transfer fees to cover it this seems much more sensible, makes more profit on the outgoings Chillwell Sterling Nkunku Madueke Petrovic etc

They also don't allow loan fees to count.

Also no expert and this may not be 100 per cent correct but in many ways it is easier to understand.

Thanks Seymns2 for the update, I didn't know that was how it worked.

08 Jul 2025 11:48:16
Neither did I Seymns2 and if so it does make a big difference to calculations. also makes getting to final of Club World Cup of possible that much more economically important it would seem.

Greenaway wish i could remember where I read it if it is true it is much more sensible.

On a related matter surely the PSR figures should be inflation linked otherwise they will become even more unfit for purpose.

As I said in a previous post. If the UEFA sanction means we can’t register our best players for the CL then I personally believe we have the right to complain.

08 Jul 2025 14:46:17
It is certainly far from clear Seymns2 and I'm hoping a bit more clarity comes out but the club have been in discussion with EUFA for a while now so I'm guessing the bean counters know what they are doing.

08 Jul 2025 16:21:26
Tom the EUFA sanctions outcome didn’t just come out of the blue for the club. I find it hard to believe that the club haven’t planned for this before making signings. If I am wrong ?.

Jimbo, I have no idea about a “plan, ” my point is if we cannot name the new signings for the Champs league in then becomes a massive feck up!

I may well have jumped the gun with my complaint on this particular subject because we will not know for. certain until the squad is announced but I still want an answer about season ticket price increases.

09 Jul 2025 08:36:13
Tom. when I said “plan” I meant that the club would have been aware for some time of the conditions. I am assuming that they were confident that they would meet those conditions before making signings. If on the other hand they have naively signed players without regard to the consequences. you are right absolute balls-up.

Jimbo, or maybe they had already put into the equation a likely fine and of course then it becomes a plan. Unlikely but who knows?
