I've been to my first of many pre-season drinking/ meetings today.
There were eleven of us all buzzing about last seasons twists and turns, plus winning two more pieces of silverware, it's what we do!
There was unanimous support for the manager and that was a massive change from the middle of last season. Also, everyone was happy with how this window is shaping up. There was the normal Sanchez concerns but again, most agreed that he was showing signs of improvement.
The expected "Scousers trying to buy the league" comments made us all chuckle, probably out of embarrassment. Strangely a few believe that the spuds might do well this year with a new manager who can get the best out of a player. The gooners fail to win the premiership yet again with Arteta getting sacked. West Ham getting relegated was a fairly predictable comment.
Anyway, the really big day/ night out is next week. We should have signed at least three more players (?) by then.
WE'VE WON IT ALL.
COME ON MY MIGHTY BLUES.

Tom, hope you enjoyed your gathering and had the odd JD. ED01, do most of the Liverpool supporters expect to win the title back to back? ED014, same question to you with the Arsenal supporters? My take is that the so called big 6 are going to dominate this coming season due to the money spent. It is almost a league within a league. The rest have no chance.
{Ed001's Note - no idea mate, I don't know most of the supporters. I don't use social media really, I am pretty much stuck in a bubble doing the sites with no real time to talk to others or see what the general feeling is.}

RPD, I assume Liverpool are short priced favourites to win the premiership again.
I will have a small bet on us, just as I had a saver on us to win the CWC.

Liverpool will win the title again. It will be the same top four: fifth place will be well behind. As to the order of the rest of the top four difficult to predict. Arsenal, Chelsea and City have signed a lot of players and there is still a month to go.
A lot will depend on how well the new signings perform and how the coaches utilise their signings. I think Chelsea will score a lot of goals but to win a title you have to manage games and win ugly: not sure if we’re there yet.

Thankyou ED01 for your reply, I know a few Liverpool fans who are a little nervous going into the new season as the expectation on them to win back to back titles is very high. Who do you feel will run Liverpool close? Surely Arteta at Arsenal now they have a striker? Do you think we are still another season away from a title challenge?
{Ed001's Note - Artita has to put up a proper title fight surely? He can't keep being Spursy and spending huge sums while achieving nothing, can he? The Arsenal fans seem to have all become part of some mass delusion where he can do no wrong. They will overlook the fact that every time a young striker emerges and does well, he sells them or loans them out, rather than give them a chance, all while they were crying out for one and instead buy defenders and midfielder. I was going to say that this must be their year or the fans might finally realise he is just David Brent with a Spanish accent, but then I realised that they will just claim everyone else is spending lots of money and that's what cost them. Of course completely ignoring the fact that Artita spent more money than the rest a lot of the time.
City will be there or thereabouts. My hope is that Pep Guardiola listens too much to little Pep when it comes to tactics. Pep Lijnders tactical approach at Liverpool was abysmal, so I am hoping he will be a hindrance to them now. However they are the main threat.
You lot stand out of the rest, but, with so many youngsters it is difficult. If you had a Silva in the squad, even just one, that could make all the difference. As it is, you are likely to be in and around it all season, but unlikely to be the ones lifting the title, even though you could very easily pip Arsenal to their second-placed trophy.}

Would also think the top 4 will eb the same as last season with LFC likely first and AFC second. Who comes 3rd or 4th a contest between us and City. But perhaps there will be a surprise package from teams who finished lower than us last season in a revitalised Spuds say. Hard at this stage to believe that United will be up there given extent of rebuild they need that will surely take more than this window you'd think.
For us, there is the question of whether the CWC win though boosting confidence and hopefully aiding good results in first few months of the season may have taken some physical toll on some players that could show itself a few months in. ie CWC win will both help us in terms of confidence and solidarity building in squad but might have physical drawback at some stage in season. But we should surely still make top 4 given our aseemingly far better better transfer window than recent ones.

Ed001, I agree with you about adding a couple of quality experienced players but it’s not going to happen; it’s important to build for the future but we must also consider the here and now. I like your comment about second- place trophy. Qualifying for the Champions league is important but coming second is otherwise meaningless.
{Ed001's Note - tell that to Arsenal fans, they think Artita is a legend for getting them second.}

Ed001, from my experience most Arsenal fans are deluded: they still think they are the top club in London.
{Ed001's Note - is that another trophy for Artita's bulging trophy cabinet? They can put that next to the 'best team in Europe' one from last season.}
