Matt Law who is usually pretty good on all things Chelsea is reporting that Petrovic asked to be left out of the CWC squad to "focus on his future. " Whatever that means.
If it's do with him "wanting" to leave then good luck to the lad.

With Nkunku, not sure why he has been included in the squad.

Bill, Nkunku is our player and was in the Chelsea squad last season. As far as we know he will be in our squad next season.

Bill, I doubt it as well but until or if we start getting offers we would be stupid not to include in the squad.
On top of that rotation in this competition is going to viral. He may well get a few games.
