Clearlake and Todd and Co. have invested a lot of money in reshaping our squad, out have gone the old guard and in have come some very promising young players. They have plans to either rebuild or relocate Stamford Bridge, they are investing in the Ladies team and the academy with plans to upgrade Cobham as well. Contrast that to what is happening to Man Utd with SJR likely to purchase a 25% holding.
We should really get behind our owners and appreciate what they are doing.

Agree0 Disagree0

G8, I agree, all supporters should get behind the news owners, new manager and all the players.

They will all be judged by the success or failure of the first team. Also, some expect instant successes.

That seems to be the way of things and if I’m honest, I have a little giggle to myself when the only thing spuds fans say to me is “they have the best football stadium in Europe”.

I agree with all of the sentiments.

The new ownership have overseen our recruitment, commercial departments. they have also overseen what is probably one of the largest turnover of experienced playing staff which I think we will agree after last seasons efforts, was needed.

We now have a squad of very talented youngsters with a coach renowned for working with and improving young players.

They are already looking to buy land next to the Bridge as a start to building/ rebuilding a stadium for the future. They like Roman are hamstrung by the surrounding area, residents and I believe our own CPO's.

I still think that the medical department needs looking at again due to the number of injuries we have had this season and yes I understand other teams have had injuries but not to the extent we have had.

A number of players will leave which will unfortunately include IM and TS. we obviously need a proven goalscorer.

Bill, generally I think the CPO’s have been a force for good at our club.

I’m still a CPO so I guess my opinion might be biased.

Tom

I agree they are needed which is why Ken set the process up in order to protect the stadium so that its protected for all the Chelsea fans.

I believe that should be the extent of their remit and not interfere with stadium naming rights etc.

Bill, I wasn’t aware that the CPO’s had interfered in the stadium naming rights process but I am a bit out of the loop nowadays.

As for the new owners, I am neutral they have made mistakes but on the other hand they have invested a lot of money and I believe they desire to make the club successful again. It’s too early to make any judgments. As Bill said there are a lot of hurdles to overcome to rebuild at the existing site. Obviously Spurs did it and now have a first class stadium but they had plenty of land and no sight line issues.

In some ways the new owners have tried to improve the club. Sometimes I worry that they are not primarily driven by for the football success like roman but come across as building to make money from the club like other American owners on the epl. My concern is that it might rub off on the short and long term success. They planned for the future with little for the present imo which is one of the reasons we struggle since they came in.

If I'm honest we as fans are already used to winning especially after spending money as we did. They left our present for the future and it's making mess of the future plans. Having a better stadium is always a dream but without having a successful squad to play there I think it will be the spurs which is a step down. Chelsea at least during roman was success centric and I find more appealing than one with the best facilities with no success in trophies, on the pitch success. I think both could be achieved if proper processes are adopted judging by the resources made available.

The squad always has obvious deficiency regardless of the amount spent so far. Been unlucky with injuries though.
The squad needs some consistent players up front and sterling should have been let go for another consistent goal scoring winger and obviously the striker situation. The need for goals from the midfield is something we are lacking since frank.

The owners clearly need chelsea to do well as they’ve invested monumental amounts, and if you ever get too far ahead of yourself like ignoring losses to West Ham Forrest villa and then excited and smug about beaten Fulham and Burnley and the hope these players not only reach there potential but reach it at chelsea, just look at current league position and next 8 league fixtures. lol we went from 3rd, spent £1b to go 15th and currently 11th, just settle down a bit yeah.

Matt, I have zero interest in being “smug” when we get positive results. I would also have zero interest in being “smug” if we continued to have negative results.

We have invested “£1bn” on rebuilding a squad but we have apparently recouped about £400m in sales and loan fees plus reduced the squads wage bill significantly. So let’s get the whole story out there.

To me in now seems the club is being run as a business and I’m ok with that. So, I guess if there is to be continued investment on players and maybe the stadium, success for the first team will be incredibly important.

I’ve consistently said I think it will take time for our new manager and this squad to bring us success and I have seen nothing in our results so far this season to suggest otherwise. The only thing I would add is that our general play NOW is far more entertaining than whe we finished 3rd.

It’s only an investment if we get it back or it Leads to success. Just don’t get ahead of your self, we’re 11th with our toughest fixtures yet to come, and the potential in a player, de bruyne, salah, lukaku, matic, rice, musiala all players who for one reason or another, some the club some the player have moved on and even cost money to bring back so potential is again hoping the reach it and hoping there here, and yes I hope and am fully behind the team but let’s not get carried away and ignore the current situation, a calendar year of form would of seen us relegated,

Matt, I’m sure the owners of the club are making investments thinking toward the short medium and long term.

I’m sure that short term they would have preferred the club to be in a better Premiership position but they have achieved a near total squad revamp.

I have no idea what their medium or long term plan is but I would guess winning trophies and maybe a club rebuild would be on there agenda.

I personally think the near total rebuild of our squad has happened to quickly and I have no idea if their investment will prove to be successful but I am pleased it has happened.

Buying players is a bit like investing in the stock market. The value of shares can go up but can also go down, either way it’s still an investment.
