Disgusting from enzo. Absolutely no room for that in football.

I didn’t have a clue what you were referring to Standard, however have since looked it up and I agree that it has no place in football, yet I’d expand that too no place anywhere.
However from what I have read Enzo wasn’t involved in the chant and he ended the video not long after the chant began? This is only what I’ve read, however if true personally I would say this limits the blame on Enzo, and can only hope he didn’t partake in the chants after the video ended.

In the same way there is no excuse for fans abusing players managers or opposing fans the same rule must apply to players.
I would like to think that the offender’s offer at the very least apologies.
16 Jul 2024 19:37:06
Enzo was filming, not chanting. He quickly ended the live stream as soon as things started getting inappropriate. I noticed you left these points out Standard?

an apology shouldn't really be enough but is needed urgently. its disgraceful, embarrassing and for a club with a real unsavoury history its a nightmare. enzo should be ashamed of himself. been an absolute disaster of a signing.

Further to most recent post on this subject, I have broken my own rule about rushing to judge. The club are reportedly investigating. I will just leave it to them.
16 Jul 2024 22:11:59
Hdkn, I have watched the video and I think Enzo is one of several players participating in the chanting of this so called song!
As I said in an earlier post the very minimum offered should be an apology. I’m not sure that will be enough and I would think some sort of training should be offered to Enzo and the rest of the Argentinian team.
I’m sure there will some that just say “they are young, celebrating a championship win and probably drunk. ” That doesn’t cut it for me as things stand.
Obviously the club will investigate and there findings will be interesting.
16 Jul 2024 23:19:58
Not sure what you're talking about cech and hdkn. Enzo was clearly singing the racist song with the other players. He's now been called out and unfollowed by a few black chelsea players.
Agree kazblue. Haven't been impressed in the slightest.
17 Jul 2024 05:17:58
I’m pleased that Enzo has publicly apologised for the video and spoken out against racism. I doubt this apology will be enough and my guess is there will be further consequences.
17 Jul 2024 06:56:54
Standard, like I said in my original reply, I only went with what I had read. If he did in fact partake in the chanting which appears he may well have done, then use it is extremely shameful behaviour.
17 Jul 2024 07:55:14
Sorry cech I do apologise my reply was aimed at hkdn. You did indeed state it was only what you read so that is my mistake.

What a great way to start the season, the French players won't pass to Enzo and vice a versa, at least he won't have to worry about Fofana as he is constantly injured and has not kicked a ball for two years and Sarr, well say no more.
Although you can't condone what was not only sung but was put out on the media, surely our own players could have kept it in house and sorted it out amongst themselves and let the proper authorities handle the bigger picture.
Sorry but everything we seem to be starting a new dawn, our players seem to kick it into touch before it starts.
17 Jul 2024 08:57:33
It is now clear that there is no dispute regarding the facts around the Enzo video. An apology will not suffice and this quite rightly won’t be hidden under the carpet. I’m not sure where we go this but it is difficult to imagine that other members of the squad will forgive him. This is a big test for the club. Ultimately, he may have to go.
17 Jul 2024 09:09:30
Jimbo he was the third best midfeilder at the club at best so I wouldn't be too upset if he left. Sell him and give the extra wages to Gallagher who actually performs.
17 Jul 2024 09:17:58
You forgot to add at a massive loss Jimbo, something the club cannot handle financially therfore it won't happen.
17 Jul 2024 09:19:47
I repeat Enzo has issued an apology.
He say says the words used in the chant do not reflect him as a person or his beliefs.
He says he is “Truly Sorry. ”
The club have made public there intent to investigate. This will probably mean a fine and an educational course. I do not think his contract will be terminated or the player being sold.
Obviously the player will have to build some bridges and I would like to think that can be managed successfully with the help of intermediaries and the club.
Of course the governing bodies may also want to get involved and that could also lead to some further punishment.
A lot will depend on how the offended players react to the Enzo apology but I would also like to think that Enzo will apologise to a wider audience that also find the words used as offensive.
17 Jul 2024 11:50:49
I am not advocating that Enzo should go but this issue could cause disharmony within the squad: it is a very difficult issue for the club. Not sure how Gallagher got mentioned; he has had an offer; it’s up to him.
17 Jul 2024 12:12:09
Jimbo, I did post earlier that it looks like Jackson is trying to repair bridges and that can probably only help.
I’m like you, I have no idea how Gallagher got into the debate and I’m also not sure what Enzo’s performances last season have got to do with this issue.
17 Jul 2024 16:17:03
What on earth has Gallagher got to do with this. weird post.
