I enjoyed the game today and the atmosphere within the ground was excellent. The very long goodbye for Silva after the game was very heartfelt.

We played some nice stuff in spells.

Jackson was brilliant and his brief partnership cameo with Nkunku looks to be very promising.

Gallagher in the second half was brilliant.

Chalaboa is better than Dunk or Maguire.

Sterling getting a goal saved me a £100 but I've still got to donate £200 to a charity.

Caicedo was my MOM yet again.

We now want City to be Utd.

Agree about Caicedo being MoM with CG and TC next most impressive. Yes Jsckson and Nkunku pairing v promising.

I should have added Ugo looks like a player and I can see playing alongside Caicedo next season.

Brilliant end to the season sees us back in Europe, never would have thought that a few months ago.

Another turbulent season, it must be a Chelsea thing 😅 we've showed signs of progression these past few weeks. Let's hope we get the recruitment right and come out fighting next season.

Hope you all have a good off season, take care, next up is Germany for me following England. Hoping we can bring it home this time 🤞🏻 Massive shout out to the Eds for putting up with us all, hope silly season doesn't start too soon and you get a break before transfer window madness.

One final thing. 🎵 Ohhhh Thiago Silva 🎵.

Anyone think vitor roque might be worth a look in the summer? .

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 11:56:47
Would be a big call in my opinion. I did see him play in one game this season and he was just ok.

He looked quite small but sometimes good things come in little packages (Zola)

If I remember correctly he was only about 18/ 19 years of age. Would be an interesting investment.

yeah he's very young tom b and i guess raw so would be a massive gamble.

Questions for all the fans/ posters and ed,

Do you think poch warrants another year?

For me yes because it feels finally like something is building and clearly the players have a bond with him.

Who will leave this season?
For me sterling, badiashille or disasi, neither are good enough, and id be tempted by an enzo bid he just reminds me of jorginho all over again, sanchez

Who would i like to sign?
Diogo costa
Guehi
Gibbs white
Solanke/ sesko/ boniface any of them 3

the reason for solanke is i feel like hed be a great rotation player with jackson, he's really grown on me jackson id hate to see us sign oshimen and see jackson on the bench for half the season nect year

Gibbs-white his energy and style would suit us far more than someone like enzo

Guehi i think he was another mistake we let go, i think his history with the club and his maturity now would be great for the dressing room and maybe hel show just like galagher and chalobah and colwill and james etc what it means to be a chelsea and i think solanke also fits that mould

Diogo costa would be an upgrade on what we have id keep petrovic and id play him in all the cups and europa league

1 wild card signing
Michael olise
An unbelievable talent another player whod trive in this team play him off the left maybe? so many options and hard to see were signings would even fit in now that our squad is finally recovering

All the above we probably don't even have interest just players id like to see personally at the club

Also 1 last thing, why the would we sell maatsen🤣 get him back and sell sick note chilwell.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 10:46:05
Poch, I want Poch to be our manager at the start of next season.

Maatsen, that ship looks to have sailed but we may well regret it. Anyway I thought Hall was a better prospect.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 10:52:43
I don't think hall done anything to prove he's a better prospect than maatsen tom
Its a real shame to sell someone like maatsen and them scamper around the market and over pay for someone whos not better.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 11:47:19
I just think he was a better defender and more importantly he could play as a midfielder. If we continue with this inverted FB (not a fan) shape he would have suited it perfectly.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 11:52:28
I agree Poch about Maatsen, shame he never really got a chance at LB. I could never really understand why Poch played him on the RW during pre-season. I do understand his concern for lack of height in the side so maybe that is a factor?

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 12:21:11
I think the height thing at FB could be a reasonable call. I also think Cucarella is marginally better
In the air than Chilly and of course James is better in the air than Gusto.

I think we have a dedicated defence coach coming in and it will be interesting to see if that improves our defending of set plays.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 12:36:08
I’d sign Messi, Chiellini and Buffon. Sell Cech, Ballack and Ivanovic.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 19:32:33
Poch sorry but I disagree with all your proposed additions. You mean if you are asked to bring a striker that will improve us you will choose solanke and even don't fancy osihmen. May we never have the decision makers at Chelsea to reason this way.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 21:44:36
I didn't pick oshimen simply because I don't see us as attractive to him, i see psg written all over oshimen, but obviously if we were to go crazy an sign him i wouldn't complain,
its ok to disagree with me the 1s mentioned above are purely speculation and maybe picking ex chels players with my blinkers on🤣🤣.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 07:44:23
Obviously hoping for an end of season win today but I'm not confident.

I can see Bournemouth causing us problems and Solanke always seems to be playing very well at the moment.

It would be awful if our small bubble burst in the last game of the season.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 11:43:16
It would be a great pity not to win today Tom for the reasons you give and also because it's our last home game and would feel like an anitclinax after recent results. We would need a win an d Soutrs to lose to ctach them, unlikely. We need a draw to finish ahead of Newcastle and guarantee some kind of European football and that must be the bottom line. But yes anything can happen in EPL games given standard of the league and we need to be at them them from v start for full game, no slow moments after half time.

I do think thenplayers should be more than up for it and all CFC on field and in the stands will want to gve Silva a good send off.

So hugely hope we do!

I will be at the game tomorrow. It could well be the last time I see Cucarella, Gallagher and Chalaboa playing in Chelsea colours and it will definitely be the last time I see Silva playing for us in the Premiership.

As I said a long time ago I can see about ten players (including loan players) leaving CFC in this window. Thanks and good luck to all of them.

I can't see us being crowned champions next season but it is the first time in a couple of years that I will renewing my season ticket with expectations rather than trepidation.

Anyway, COME on MY MIGHTY BLUES.

18 May 2024 13:15:32
I hope we keep Big Trev but I understand he is looking for a move to get regular playing time, Conor will leave if he doesn't sign that contract and I hope Marc C stays, he has been brilliant since his surgery and it is great to hear the match day fans singing his name. Silva is doing his coaching badges and I would love to see him back one day as our head coach.

18 May 2024 07:58:15
The recruitment team are going all out to sign Estevao Willian who looks an amazing talent and is wanted by a number of high profile clubs. I hope this one gets over the line. Also a nice piece in Tomorrows programme notes from Daniel Finkelstein talking about the reality of "the vision" and how patience was always the key. Very easy for some of the pundits and even "fans" to hammer a project with cheap digs and pathetic words. (Gary Neville comes to mind) so nice to see a bit of back tracking and praise being given for all the hard work being put in by the team.

Agree1 0Disagree

18 May 2024 09:03:29
If Mr Finkelstein reflects the boards feelings I look forward to Poch being confirmed as manager for next season and beyond ideally.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 May 2024 09:23:08
I mean, we've spent a billion. Top 4 was the minimum expectations from the owners until they moved the goalposts because it went so horrifically. Yes we're on a good roll now and we have brought in some talented players but with the squad we had under tuchel finishing 3rd and winning the champions league a season prior, after a billion spent you'd expect an epl title in that time and another ucl, not 6th.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 May 2024 09:33:55
Drog, so far and it’s only my experience, the FAB have not covered themselves in glory. What I would say and having had the pleasure of meeting Finkelstein a few years ago I hope his influence can improve fans communication.

Again and for those interested please look at the FAB meeting agendas. Sadly I can’t find any action results.

18 May 2024 09:37:51
With the age of the players brought in Standard, a new coach in Poch, nobody should expect an immediate EPL and/ or UCL.

Agree2 0Disagree

18 May 2024 09:52:37
If we had spent a billion on established players who stayed fit for most of the season we would have been competing for the title but we didn't.
We assembled a bunch of talented kids very few of which had PL experience and quite a few have proven chronically inury prone.
Based on that 5/ 6th and good cup tmruns is an acceptable return.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 May 2024 10:59:01
Drog, maybe your point about experienced players is valid but generally speaking that would have come with a much higher annual wage bill and going forward that looks like becoming more relevant.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 May 2024 11:22:25
Tom, the wage bill is a valid point but if in the future we want to bring in proven top players they won’t come cheap. Also, this has to b balanced out by losses to b revenue by failing to qualify for the CL.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 May 2024 12:03:38
Apparently some fans seem to have forgotten that the first summer under Boehly &co we mostly kept the exact squad that won the CL and finished 3rd, whilst adding experienced players like Koulibaly, Sterling and Aubameyang that Tuchel had asked for. We played rubbish and TT got sacked.

If we hadn’t been banned by the gov from signing players we’d have offered Rudiger and probably Christiansen extensions. Pretty sure we’d have signed Tchoumeni too.

You could argue the £100m spent on Sterling, Koulibaly and Auba could have been better spent on Osimhen. Perhaps the £135m spent on Cucurella and Fofana could have been spent on the likes of Gvardiol and maybe Bastoni etc. But the owners bought the players TT wanted.

If you look at the squad when Boehly and co took over, I actually don’t think it was very good tbh. Mendy, Kepa, Zouma, Emerson, Alonso, Jorginho, Drinkwater, Barkley, Kennedy, Ziyech, Lukaku, Werner. None of them good enough realistically despite finishing 3rd. Pulisic, RLC and Kante injured 90% of the time. Then Rudi and Christiansen’s contracts expired. There was always going to need to be a massive turnover of the squad. Those initial summer signings are pretty much all going to be moved on (Auba and Koulibaly have already left) Sterling and Cucu are linked with leaving.

So I’d actually argue that it was the experienced players that we initially bought which has set the project back.

Agree1 0Disagree

18 May 2024 12:27:02
I was responding to the comments made about the failure to compete for the title this season.
The strategy to reduce the wage bill has been clear and probably the way to go currently.
But don't expect the club to compete for Top 4 when we have a lot of players lacking PL experience a new coach plus horrendous Injuries.
The club should have publically praised and supported the manager weeks ago.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 May 2024 12:28:54
We have failed to qualify for the Champions League before and managed to struggle through!

I have no idea what cheap is but I’m sure the club will keep under the latest proposals.

I would like and still think there is a chance we might secure the service of Osimhen for next season but is he so called “proven? ”.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 May 2024 12:36:35
Drog, I agree the club should have given Poch the thumbs up weeks ago but to also be fair my guess is that will happen after the supposed scheduled season review in a few weeks time.

Putting aside injuries as something we all home statistically improves for next season, a lot of our young players (but not all) will have had a season in the PL to acclimatise so I’m looking for and expect improvement for next season.

18 May 2024 12:39:28
Fuser, I agree the new owners have apparently admitted they got things wrong and were poorly advised in those early days. The squad size was ridiculous.

Not qualifying for the CL two seasons in a row is a failure for a “big club “ like Chelsea whichever way you spin it.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 May 2024 18:19:18
You can’t spin fact.

We will get by with what I’m told will be a very attractive sponsorship deal, hopefully the Europa cup and a min £50m next summer in that USA club competition, plus an apparent significant cut in salary costs.

Other so called big teams have missed out on Champions league for more than two seasons running and they have also survived.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 May 2024 20:47:06
Tom, which Europa cup, no money in either. I hope your mate is right about the sponsorship deal. So other teams are called “so called big teams “. Your facts are suited to your opinions.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 May 2024 21:26:44
The club has exceeded my expectations-fact.

We will be getting a junk of change for playing in an end of next season tournament-fact.

We will be getting money from sponsorship-fact.

We will be lowering our annual wage bill-fact.

Clubs who do well in the Europa Cup make money-fact.

Of course I could be a miserable/ negative old tw@t rather than happy/ positive old tw@t but that is never going to happen-fact.

Agree1 1Disagree

19 May 2024 00:59:10
Tom,
Your expectations are not facts- fact
Our invitation into the end of of season tournament will provide income but is based on past performances- fact
Two seasons without CL income will affect our finances- fact
All clubs who have sponsorship deals will receive income- the issue is how much the deal is worth- fact
I believe we have lowered our wage bill but I don’t know by how much - fact
I won’t comment on you how you come across, we all have our own perceptions of our personalities.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 06:47:35
Jimbo, if we reach my expectations it becomes fact- fact.

Obviously not being in Champs league effects our finances but you said there is “no money” in the Europa, you are wrong-fact.

We will be getting £50m minimum form an end of season competition that will help our financial position-fact.

Our annual wage bill has come down- fact.

I wouldn’t have a clue about your personality, my comment was about “my” choice of personality. I will always be positive because I have to be- fact.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 09:31:51
Tom, an expectation is a belief that something will happen, the outcome of the expectation is a fact, not the expectation itself.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 May 2024 09:50:41
Your focus now appears to have moved on from my listed facts and your misguided information that the Europa competitions offer “no money. ”

I suggest you read my post again. My expectation has been reached therefore that expectation becomes my fact-fact.

Just been reading an article about a very long serving employee of CFC called Brian Pullman who has just retired from his work at the club age 86.

There must be hundreds of Brian's up and down the country. Brilliant.

Good luck Standard. There would still appear to be plenty of jobs but I’m not sure how many are well paid.

I was in the City of London a few weeks ago and there didn’t seem to be a shortage of funds splashing around that day but I guess that could have all been on credit.

Information about ticket prices for next season is on the Chelsea website. It looks like concessions will stay at 50%. I have in recent years been in two minds about the discount for seniors. A lot of baby boomers have a lot more disposable income than younger people who are starting off their careers and families. I suppose it depends to some extent on the percentage of supporters who are entitled to the 50% discount.

Agree0 0Disagree

17 May 2024 19:34:49
And a lot of so called baby boomers don’t have much, if any, disposable income.

The continued concession for Premier supporters over 65 and kids is most welcome.

As far as I can remember we have generally (some areas did go up) had only one season ticket increase in about 20 years, this 5% increase is now the second.

Agree0 0Disagree

17 May 2024 19:50:24
Not sure why the word “Premier” appeared.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 May 2024 09:38:06
Tom, I was referring to concessions for seniors not young people. A lot of under 65s don’t have a lot of disposable income. The old dufffers who I know at Chelsea and personally are generally financially secure. The question is whether supporters who have held season tickets before they reach 65 could afford to pay full price which is very difficult to judge. The issue I raised is not new, the debate about the disparity in wealth between the generations has been going on for years. My point is that concessions for seniors is not, nor should it be sacrosanct.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 May 2024 10:56:18
Jimbo, I understood your point but totally disagree with it. The concessions for OAP’s and young people are long standing and most welcome for both groups.

As far as some OAP’s being better off that other OAP’s I can’t see how the club could differentiate other than means test them.

Within my group of friends there are six OAP’s. One has a top up/ private pension, two have there families paying for there tickets and the other three make personal sacrifices from there state pension and pensioner credits. They have all supported the club for over forty years and paid the full price for there season ticket over many years. Now in there old age they get a ST concession……I think it’s reasonable.
