Ed002 so something like £90m for Osimhen and £35m for Lukakau? And would we still be as keen on osimhen with maresca joining? Or does it not matter who the manager is, osimhen is the major striker target?

Zola250

{Ed002's Note - ignore the numbers. Nothing changes because of the coach.}

Thanks for the clarifying note Ed002. Will understand of course if you do not want to reveal who the first choice. Maresca now appointed anyway.

A very logical posting RBD. Maresca cannot have been appointed on the basis of bringing favoutrites Leicester back up. There is little else to go on in terms of a managerial career and he was not exactly a household name as a footbal player of stature himself. So I can only presume he has been appointed because of his assistant stint under Pep at City, his season with their elite development squad there, and fact that at least Cole Palmer will know him and hipefully like him.

But this move by the 'structure' at CFC has to be quite a gamble. Jury has to be out for a while yet on whether this can translate into head coaching success at CFC, or swiftly so as we surely need it to be after TT, GP, FL, and especially Poch - who seemed to have set us in right direction at last - costly comings and goings (and now with pay out for Poch plus for Maresca: bang goes the Conference league money or more) . No patience with GP or Poch, perhaps there will be now, but for how long.

So I have to hope - even if not confidently expectant - and have already posted to this effect. No choice but to hope as loyal CFC supporter. Perhaps Maresca will prove to be a coaching genius, wins the dressing room round to believing in him, through bad times as well as good, and is secure in job and can bring some stability to us if demonstrably moving in right direction.

But how much time can CFC hierarchy reckon they can afford now given false starts altready? Getting Top 4 this coming season surely almost essential, not just for financial reasons but possibly also for retaining our best players or, if on long contracts, retaining their belief in the 'project'.

So hard right now even for a liofetime loyal CFC supporter not to a tad apprehensive.

JBS

{Ed002's Note - Maresca will be appointed because the first choice was not available and he was determined to be the most suitable of other coaches considered.}

Ed002 with napoli looking like getting conte, reports that he wants lukaku, is there a deal will will look to be done with lukaku in A deal for Osimhen?

{Ed002's Note - Napoli are keen to keep the deals separate.}

Makes sense a deal for one then a deal for another, either way, win win.

29 May 2024 07:36:20
We can give them 80 for osimhen and they can give us 35 for lukaku.

Well looks like it'll be maresca. Let's all get behind him and show our support. Is he well thought of Ed2 and do you think he is the right appointment of our options?

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Maresca is very well thought of and should be a good fit for Chelsea. After the first choice became unavailable then he or Amorim were the best options available.}

27 May 2024 15:59:00
Thankyou ED02 for your insight. Always good to know that a Coach is well respected amongst people who actually know.

Seems a gamble but I guess the club is probs thinking along the same lines of Arteta as one of Peps prodigy’s being very successful.

I hope it works out and I can eat my words although I am not overly confident as feel that any manager would have won the league with that Leicester side.

Jimbo I wouldn’t have a clue who our next manager will be, I’m just reflecting the bookmaker odds.

{Ed002's Note - Maresca will be offered the job if talks go well with him.}

Ed002 looks like from reports it is going to be maresca and we are going to talk to leicester now, is that what your hearing and what is your opinion on him?

{Ed002's Note - Enzo Maresca (C) Heas rejected an opportunity to join Seville. Chelsea and Manchester City have spoken to his agent who has told Chelsea that EM would be open to joining the club. Chelsea have asked Leicester if they can speak with him. He already knows he was not first choice for Chelsea and knows he won't be for Manchester City when the time comes.}

All three remaing coaches are all underwhelming however so too would be Mourhino and TT.

People seem to forget the mess we were in when Mourhino last left us in and TT plays absolutely boring football and don't forget the mess he has just left Bayern in.

TBH, the more I think about it I have to say I don’t have a great deal of confidence in the reported candidates, they all have question marks for me. Just like Poch last season. I’m not sure why we are in such a rush to make an appointment and why we haven’t spread the net a bit wider.

Jimbo.56

{Ed002's Note - It is not rush but a desire to add the right person.}

Hi Ed, are you able to share who was/ is our first choice is for the manger position? Based on various reports it seems like the list consists of Mckenna, Maresca, Frank and De Zerbi.

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant as he is not moving to Chelsea. I would likely discount McKenna from your list and there are other options.}

26 May 2024 16:07:20
There's so much media reports, I don't have a clue who it could be. I only assumed are first choice was either kompany, or motta or stuttgart manager, as Ed said, he won't be coming to Chelsea. Mckenna seems a no now. So according to reports its maresca, frank, rdz and possibly amorin. Hopefully it will be sorted this week and we can get behind the manager, look forward to signings and style of play.

26 May 2024 16:08:28
De Zerbi is the chosen one according to the most of the twitter.

Are there any other options?

26 May 2024 17:12:18
Omirin, Frank much better options than RDZ.

26 May 2024 18:51:12
Thanks Ed, appreciate the update. Such a crazy domino effect with managers at the moment. I'd have loved either Hoeneß or Flick, but would also be happy with Amorim or Xavi but neither seen to be in the running. Tuchel would've also been nice, but understand that ship has well and truly sailed.

26 May 2024 18:22:05
Alonso was apparently the choice but his staying at Leverkusen then possibly Madrid.

26 May 2024 13:17:12
ED002

Reports are saying that although RDZlefr Brighton by mutual agreement, anybody taking him on will still have to pay compensation of about £8mil.

Do we have the same agreement for any team Poch is taken on by?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Ed002 rumors that we are going to try for olise again? Any truth and are you still of the opinion he will move elesewhere or do we have a chance? Thankd Seems overkill with how many rw/ ams we already have and have comiing in.

{Ed002's Note - Michael Olise (RW/AM) PSG and Manchester City want him as cover although the departure of Mahrez last summer will mean more opportunities now, but the RW position is effectively Foden's. If de Bruyne or Silva were to depart, he becomes an option again. Crystal Palace has no real interest in selling but know that Chelsea want to take Olise back to Stamford Bridge and Olise has made clear that one day he wants to be playing with his brother. Down the list of AM players Chelsea want but they will again perhaps push for him. His representative has said no other clubs have made any formal approach for Olise. Arsenal and Manchester United have also regularly sent scouts and he may end up first choice for one of them. Liverpool can be discounted. Will be available in the summer when a significant release clause will need to be met.}

26 May 2024 10:23:09
If we signed Olise think we’d have to move Sterling, Madueke and Angelo on. Maybe even Hutchinson with Paez and Estebao eventually joining. I love Olise but think we need a quality CB and a striker before other areas.
