Hilarious there's a vast majority of fans who blame our owners for forcing Mount out,

Ten hag said in his press conference that Chelsea didn't want to let him go and offered him many contracts but he wanted to make the step away.

* I still think there will be players who we will be happier to sell for the profit value, but it was
Ed who said a long time ago mount had offered to stay and didn't.

Gallagher the same it seems.

Matt

CG will leave in the summer, as with Mount he won't be allowed to run down his contract to leave on a free the following summer.

The only thing the club could do or will do is give in to extortionate player demands and as they are intent on bringing down the salary levels, that won't happen.

Like Mount, if CG does not want to sign a deal on what is a good salary, then let him go, it's not been great for Mount so far.

Imo it's the media hype around players that make them feel better than they really are tat on their head they think they deserve or even in the same category as the very best in the league. I think we are neither missing Mount nor will miss Gallagher if he left as a result of his personal overvalution. Especially as the club no longer knows how to sign the suitable players but any young talented players with no proper vision for both short and long term projects. Someone below hinted his dismay to fans who are not happy with the new owners and I want to confirm I'm one. They have made Chelsea a laughing stock and lost identity within a very short time like it's planned. They sacked all yhey should stick with and retain who should have been sacked. The transfer and the medical were supposed imo to be sacked. All players sold for injuries are playing week in week out. Often i fear we are now doomed with the new owners. Imo if for any reason roman is asked to return we will return to the top almost immediately without many changes in the playing staff, just strategic signings Especially at the helm. These guys are trying to ripp off on the gains made by roman. Use the platform to grow talented players and sell for profits and ignore the fans or occasionally deceive them with unnecessary signings.

I don't blame the owners I think it's just business, same wigh all of us in our jobs were more likely to get a contract that were worth elsewhere in a different company than getting that contract at your own company. It's just business at the end of the day, though in both cases I think signing the players to new contracts is cheaper than signing an expensive replacement that may or may not work out.

04 Apr 2024 15:24:13
Standard, you are spot on in my opinion it is a business.

The reverence to the Roman era is understandable given how many trophies the club won under his ownership but his reign wasn’t mistake free. There are plenty of dud signings under his tenure.

The club has admitted to making some mistakes and looking at it from the outside it’s generally tried to correct those errors.

I think there will be more players leaving than joining in the summer window and with the luck of an injury free season I can see us comfortably challenging for champions league places next year.

04 Apr 2024 15:37:07
I agree with everything you say Tom however I'm not sure we will address the injury front as we had the same issue last season as well as this one.

The sanctions and treatment of the club truly fecked us up. Quite why the club was not allowed to negotiate contracts with the likes of Rudiger and others I will never understand. The sanctions against Roman I do understand. That started a very difficult time for the club and we could of gone into administration or worse. I actually have friends of opposition clubs who would of loved that! I was very pleased when new owners were found and we as a club could continue, the fact that they have spent millions of pounds re-building the squad is a bonus. They could have kept their hands in their pockets!

Bill, I’m not sure it just an “our club” issue. I’m certainly not a football injury expert but it would appear that a lot of clubs have suffered from a significant amount of injured players this season.

I don’t blame players for extracting the most value of their relatively short careers. But you can’t claim to love a club and then leave for an extra wedge when you’re earning 200k/ week imo. Fair if Chelsea offers you 100k and other sides would double i would expect the player to move even if they claim to love the club. The offer to mount was apparently 200k/ w and he’s on 250-275k I think at Utd. Granted that’s 25-30% more than was offered, but if you love a club I think you stay.

Just on Mount, I read that he was only offered an extra year at 200k so it would have expired in 2025. Don’t know if I believe it though. What’s the point in offering a 2 year contract to a 24 year old? Definitely heard rumblings about contract length with him, but I thought it had been the opposite and the club had offered 6-8 years (as they have with new signings) and Mount hadn’t wanted to coming to that length. ( only what i supposed had happened)

With Gallagher, I do quite understand his point of view. He’s performed better than Enzo and Caicedo this year so from his point of view, he should be earning the same. But I don’t see him as having the same potential as them. When you look at who was interested in Enzo& Caicedo and then look at who’s interested in Gallagher, I think you can see he’s not as valued.

Like I faulted certain quarters of the club, the medical team and even the coaching could have helped on the injuries. I refuse to accept its just down to luck that we had such injury challenges, could be lots better if better managed by the quarter responsible. Maybe training methods are not suitable for the young players we have atm. Still looks up for the managers review in the summer as I think poch is doubtful to continue based on the same review. Not that roman was without mistakes either but had gone past the level the new owners have suddenly taken back to. They only made signings arbitrarily of young players which looks coy in selling same for profits. Not nationality sensitive but a casual look at most American owners like the pool, pre klop, United mostly keen priorities on how to milk the club and little investment in putting the club back in top., on the pitch improvement, for the fans . putting everyone up for sale like selling off palmer to the highest bider once he's improved again of course fans opinion. Selling your best players is not indication you want to compete at the top was not roman did and theyarelikelytokeep poch regardless of the paxe of improvement so long as that side is safe for them not really how it translate to results. Though that's just an option.
Whether that changes with the flips along the partners changes in the administration tenure overtime.

No idea what you’ve said in either post tbh tusole. Don’t get the relevance to the thread and don’t understand most of it either ??‍♂️.

05 Apr 2024 08:37:58
American owners as opposed to Russian owners or Asian owners.

It’s a business and it will be run as a business. Buying and selling players is part of the football business.

05 Apr 2024 08:48:19
Fuser, you make some good points and I agree footballers are entitled to negotiate their contracts as they see fit. However, I have never accepted the “short career “ argument. If a player earns say £75K a week over an 8 year period that amounts to £28.8 million. Most of us would say you are set for life. In any event, the fact that your football career is over is to be distinguished from the end of your working life. Very few of us consider our working life over in our early thirties.

05 Apr 2024 09:21:46
I think the point being made is it’s a relatively short career earning huge amounts of money.

Obviously they can do other things after playing football and probably for there health it is better if they keep busy after there playing careers are over.

05 Apr 2024 09:52:38
Tom, I understood the point but as I said it is an argument that I have never considered valid. It is just my personal opinion that I just threw into the ring.

05 Apr 2024 12:32:03
Jimbo I do completely agree with you. For all fans earning 28.8m is unthinkable and we’d be set up for life. From a footballers prospective though, half of it goes to the gov in tax, so that’s 15m left roughly. Then spread out over 50 year lifetime that’s £300k/ year. Still more than most fans will ever make, and with the right investments etc they could grow that money too, plus any jobs they get after retiring from playing.

But ultimately 300k/ year, doesn’t really afford them the lifestyle they want. Most of them don’t live frugally and they want to maintain their lifestyle after they finish playing.

{Ed001's Note - it's not £300k a year, even if they do not invest it they would earn interest on their money in the bank. That can be huge amounts alone.}

05 Apr 2024 12:53:58
Fuser, I am not going to shed any tears about someone who can’t live on £300 K a year. They should be thanking whichever higher being they believe in for being so fortunate.

05 Apr 2024 13:02:43
I’m just content with whatever they make good luck to them.

05 Apr 2024 14:21:59
Tom, good for you. I don’t really care what people earn but my my point was neither do I care if they have lower their extravagant lifestyles.

05 Apr 2024 14:28:43
Yep, any players who don’t want to sign, we have to cash in, any player,

And it’ll be the same talk that Gallaghers being forced out like poor Mount who wanted so desperately to stay,

05 Apr 2024 15:03:30
I also don’t care about there so called “extravagant lifestyles. ”

God luck to them on that front as well.

05 Apr 2024 15:11:57
Tom, a nice again good for you.

05 Apr 2024 15:24:11
I’m not sure what a person earns or anyone’s lifestyle is “good” for me!
