Hi Ed2, I know you've got close ties to Chelsea FC. I wanted to know what your opinion was on the situation at Chelsea? What are your thoughts on recruitment, and the model Chelsea are going for? Also, how do you think Poch has done as a manager?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - The recruitment process is doing fine with youngsters and going forward all looks well in the medium and long term. In the short term, there need to be some changes and they should happen this summer. I am not sure what you mean about "model". There have been significant difficulties this season with injuries and losing several players for the whole season. If he stays it will be better next season but that decision will not be made until the season is over.}

Question for the Ed, s
Whats your thoughts on Fabregas as a manager so far, huge fan favourite at chelsea a real gem of a player, great to see him doing well as a coach, he was 1 of those players who u always felt knew were d ball was going before he even took a touch.

{Ed002's Note - He hasn't had a coaching career yet. A few months as the coach of a second tier Italian youth team and four or five games as a caretaker which he had to leave as he did not have the appropriate coaching qualifications. And he is a real jerk.}

Ed002, which of these transfers are unlikely to happen for Chelsea?

ST - Benjamin Sesko
LW - Chris Fuhrich
AM - Georgiy Sudakov
LB - Milos Kerkez/ Bradley Locko
CB - Tosin Adarabioyo
GK - Marcin Bulka.

{Ed002's Note - What sort of question is that?}

As in, you mentioned Sudakov as the primary target to replace Gallagher.

Are the other players also being looked at other positions?

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea has lists of options for the various positions they are looking to recruit for. Some of these players are included and others are not.}

We should keep Gallagher and chalobah;

If they want to leave, we haven't ever and shouldn't keep players who don't want to be here

If Gallagher won't sign deal, we are forced to cash in, same as Mount situation, it's lose lose, he walks for £0 the owners get called morons and if we sell him they get slated for cashing in,

For the fee's they'd fetch I don't think you can get squad players for that money, someone should give a little and compromise to stay and accept a contract

IF, they are sold, as exciting as it is for unknown players and potentia, we need some proven talent, palmer, nkunku can play 10/ or wide, sudokov looks exciting but we've only seen highlights and that's in Ukrainian league, look at mudryk's adaption to prem,

I’d prefer Gallagher to sign an extension and stay but if he A) do we really need to replace him and B) what sort of midfielder do we go for?

A) we have Lavia, Ugochukwa, Caicedo and Enzo as deeper CM’s and DM’s, not to mention Casadei and Santos, both of which are extremely highly rated. Casadei has only gotten a few mins since coming back from Leicester but I’ve liked what I’ve seen and Santos, apparently Barcelona potentially want to take him on loan. So there’s a lot of competition already. Even have Chucky too but he’s more of an AM imo.

B) I do think if we were to sign a replacement given the depth we have at CM/ DM id be more inclined to go for an AM player. Never seen him play but Sudakov who we’ve been linked to fits the bill. Doubt he’d come but I’d go for Musiala as he can also play out wide. Also been linked with Xavi Simons, he’d be expensive though and not sure what his defensive side of the game is like tbf. Ed001, have you seen much of Xavi or done a profile of him?

{Ed001's Note - I have only seen a little of Xavi Simons and he was playing more of a wide role in those few games. Musiala seems a lot better than him from what I saw though. I did like the workrate though, even though it was not going well for him, Xavi kept going and tracking back too.}

Poch has seemed bit fed up with speculation about him next year. Today he sort of indicated that it's not about if we want him but if he wants us, seemed fed up,

Think that’s pretty fair of him tbh. Every week he has to answer the question of ‘are you going be sacked’ or along those lines. Maybe he doesn’t like the squad, or the plans for the summer. Maybe Bayern or someone wants him. Maybe he doesn’t think we’ll improve next season. Like it’s not entirely up to the board whether he stays or not, he and his team have to be willing too. I imagine if the club want to keep him he’ll stay. But if I was him, maybe I’d hang it out there as a possibility of leaving of his own volition. Perhaps gives him a little leverage, potential contract extension or maybe keeping certain players or whatnot.

Nib I don’t think it’s guaranteed he’ll be gone this summer. If we finish in the European places I’d probs have it at 60/ 40 he stays imo.

Even if we don't finish in the Euroopean places, there definitely has been an improvement since December (apart from the Arsenal and Liverpool ganes) .

I would like to see him next season with a fully fit squad having had a clear out of players and purchased of an experienced CB and a too ST.

Before now I was poch out group but now I'm open to giving him another chance. In all I think it's best he goes this summer especially as he's not a winning manager, can't go long again without a trophy which will not happen with poch in the helm. I still believe this squad can do better with a different manager.
I would like the decision made quickly to allow the prospective new manager time to assess the squad to identify area of weakness. It's even possible that it's poch that makes us feel certain areas are bad or good. With another manager things might change. I remember the impact of conte on Victor moses.

I don’t think there was anything controversial with what he said.

As mentioned above he is being asked repeatedly about the club replacing him…he has previously answered that it’s the club’s decision, that the sporting director’s have a big say and now he has come out and answered a question that inferred any decision would be on one side. He pointed out that it “could” be a decision that he and his staff also have an input to in terms of whether the job they were brought in to perform was in fact realistic, given what they now know. In the same press conference he also talked about (succession) planning for the future, which is what all clubs should be doing anyhow.

What happens next season if he is here? Is the extension clause going to be a further media talking point if there is radio silence from the club?

11 May 2024 10:12:56
Steve, I think he feels a lack of respect from journalists who keep asking the same questions about his future.

I think on this occasion he was just gently reminding people that he also has the right to review the performance of CFC.

Back from a two week trip for work and so pleased with the progress I've seen from Chelsea while abroad. Wasn't able to watch the Villa game but managed to catch all of Spurs and the first half of West Ham. Maybe I should move away from London?

Some interesting questions raised from these three games. Firstly, should Chalobah really be the CB we are marking for a sale? Since coming back from injury I think he has shown what many of us think, that he is a better player than Disasi. Personally, I'd be more comfortable with moving on one of Badishile or Disasi than Trev.

Secondly, how much of an impact was the hernia having on Enzo? It's clear for all to see that having a more mobile partner next to Caicedo has really enabled him to show what he is about rather than constantly plugging holes and trying to figure out the least worst decision to make from a list of terrible options. I think we are all old enough to know that Enzo will be first name on the team sheet next season, but on this evidence, should he be? I notice Todd Boehly was reported saying that 'things have come together over the last 3 games', maybe so, but it's not much of a victory lap when your 105m CM isn't playing and two of the best players are so openly for sale.

Finally, the battle between Madueke and Mudryk. For me there is only space in the squad for one and while I think Mudyrk has more of a special, unquantifiable talent, Madueke seems far more capable of actually sticking to a game plan and understanding what is required. Who will win out? I would also add that while it is good to see Madueke's development, Olise showed everyone who is boss vs United. That's the type of player and performance we need to see from our wide players.

Also it was great to see Nkunku back. My how we need him to stay fit and be back ready for the start of next season. I would imagine he will be picked for France, a good tournament would be a fantastic reminder of his talent and hopefully enable him to hit the ground running for Chels.

RBD, I hope your work trip went well.

I can see no reason why Mudryk and Noni shouldn’t remain in the squad. One right and one left footed seems good to me.

Not only that Tom, you also now need 2 players in each position throughout the squad if you want to compete at the top table.

09 May 2024 16:49:13
Agree Tom nothing wrong with both of them in the squad, in a couple of years would be interesting to see how they develop.

Mudryk is really infuriating but I see a top player in there in a year or two.

09 May 2024 17:48:26
I quite like both players Tom, but I don't know how we progress with both occupying the wings week in week out. They need time to develop and we're at a point now where they're going to struggle to reach 20 premiership goals and assists combined.

We need more, the likelihood is that Palmer won't score another 25 goals next season. I think you can keep one, continue to bed them in and bring them along. It would be a pretty unlikely outcome for both to take a huge leap forwards next season.

Mudryk for instance, has 0 goals and 0 assists in 6-0 and 5-0 wins where he played almost 180 mins.

Agree0 0Disagree

09 May 2024 19:10:49
RBD, if we play both the likelihood is we play 433 and that probably means our FB’s have to be defenders first and foremost.

Obviously that shape wouldn’t be set in stone but I can see us wanting to keep opposing defenders out wide to create gaps. Poch has recently got Mudryk playing with white dust on his boots and that has allowed Cucarella to play as an inverted FB because the opposition FB can’t go forward.

Anyway, this window will be interesting. Particularly on the sales side.

just purely out of interest- aside from being quick. what is it that people see in mudryk. he's not shown much. i can't remember him having a decent game in his whole time here. forget the price tag. he looks way off being prem standard forget about a club that should be pushing up the table.

Kaz, the lad has apparently had some personal/ family issues over the last year or so. Since he has been getting a run of games he has been offering the club a bit more game by game.
Also, for some strange reason teams are now doubling up on him and that helps the team generally.

10 May 2024 13:12:36
G8, agree you need two players in each position, but they need to be good players.

I think I've said my piece on Mudryk and don't want to bore everyone so I'll leave it at this:

6 goals in 18 months.

kazblue re Mudryk if this makes sense and it probably doesn't I see something in Mudryk but I have no idea what it is I just feel he has something and will be a top player,

being from the Ukraine at the moment can't be easy.

Suns out Saturday and expectations are growing. Forest will be different to spurs who are low of everything and West Ham who are on the beach. Forest need the points and will be up for a fight, ideal weekend

Chelsea win
Man City win
Arsenal / United draw
Burnley win
Brighton beat Newcastle
West Ham lose

Nkunku gets some more minutes and a goal involvement, we keep a clean sheet, everyone's happy, we creep up the table. Everyone's happy,

Matt, I think we will struggle against Forest. I would have like to have seen them safe from relegation before we played them.

If Luton lose they will be safe barring a difference of 8 in goal difference

On results would like to see Arsenal beat Utd and West Ham beat Luton as it will make our job v fosest easier.
