Just a question for the Arsenal lads on here. Would your supporters have liked to have Jose as their manager at any stage during the past 10 year, if it guaranteed trophies. Obviously taking into the account the type of football his teams play and the controversy that comes with the man.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good question Sid,
Indeed, we have spoke about this on Arsenal page.
I like Mourinho, he is a winner.
He is ruthless, if he came to Arsenal last season (for example), he would have got rid of Arteta, Flamini, Sanogo and Rosicky, among others, and strengthened, like when he got rid of Torres and Ba.

I have 2 problems with Mourinho.
Firstly, I find him a bit 'short-term'. He comes in, sorts out the squad, wins silverware, than leaves or gets sacked. That's not a bad thing, but I prefer more long-term managers like Wenger, albeit the Arsenal board allow him longevity, not sure if Abramovich has afforded Mourinho the same luxury in the past, or indeed, will he in the very near future?

Secondly, he always looks for a scapegoat when things go wrong, (I'm not saying Wenger doesn't), but Mourinho is king of the persecuted.
He blames Wenger, Fergie, refs, The FA, the media, the pitch, the weather, the position of the satellite orbiting earth's atmosphere, in fact anything and everything.

Would I like him as manager?
Yes, because football is about winning things, and he wins things.

The history books will tell you Chelsea were Prem League winners 2014/15 season, that's all that matters, not the playing style or likeability of the manager.

Don't think you will find many Gooners who will agree with me though.

{Ed002's Note - Mr Mourinho has never been sacked by any of the clubs he has worked for.}

Weren't sure if he got sacked first time round at Chelsea.
But you are indeed correct Ed.

{Ed002's Note - Of course.}

Personally not Sid. I became an Arsenal because of the football they play, not because of trophies or anything else. It is how they play that has made me love them so much. Mourinho, in my honest opinion, is anti-football. He is everything that Arsenal isn't. He wants to stop other teams from playing, either by shutting them down or getting them sent off. I really could not cope with watching that every week, win lose or draw.

About the short term manager thing, I think managers staying for over 5 years in this day and age is quite rare. This is only my opinion of course, but I think Wenger will be the last of his kind.

You could be right Jackson, but that could also be that our Board is very tolerable to a lack of success, unlike other big clubs.

I would not want mourinho anywhere near our club, even if he could win us the league, fa cup and the champions league in one season. You could argue its because i'm an Arsenal fan, but for me football isn't all about winning.

Dags, Jose is the king of scapegoating, but he does it (in my opinion) not because he necessarily believes it but to protect the players. It generally makes the players love him and thus work harder for him. So to me, I don't really mind it so much.

This season though I think that he has perhaps lost a few of the players' faith, which is why we've seen him throw a few of them under the bus (rightly so) . Also I think some of it has come back to bite him i. e the refs and FA.
