Agreed, I'm not so convinced by Morata, would prefer someone light on their feet like Paco Alcacer or Jese RodrÃguez. Maybe if Costa goes to Athletico we could cut a deal for Vietto or dare I dream Griezmann :D.
Other than that I'll happily take those signings all day long.

I do like the look of Florenzi although I don't think we need him if Cuadrado's coming back.

Totally agree with Florenzi, he can also play midfield. Leave Dave LB. having said this I would like conte to at least try the 3-5-2 formation as I believe with the addition of a pacey centre half we have the players to do this.

I agree to an extent, but I was more asking to try and stimulate debate/ argument as to whether anyone thinks there are better obtainable options for any positions?

I have a sneaky feeling that Morata might be a problem when it comes to his temper and would be an easy target for the premiership defenders. He was losing his cool and ended up being taken off in Spain's penultimate match, and he was sent off twice last season.

I'm still not convinced we'll play 3 at the back unless we see Oscar and Pedro leave. We have far too many AM's/ Wingers to go in that direction currently. I don't think we need Florenzi even if we don't keep Cuadrado as I'd prefer to keep Dave on the right as he doesn't have what it takes imo to be a LWB in a 3-5-2. Then finally assuming we keep Costa then I don't really see how we'd keep him, Morata and Batshuayi all happy since we aren't in Europe this season.

We have Dave and Willian we can afford to sell Cuadrado. Conte is playing 3142 (352) for last six years. Why he wouldn't play 3 in the back? Chelsea has Terry, Ivanovic, Cahill, Zouma plus Clarke Salter and Djilobodji coming back from loan (who got no chance under Mourinho but had excellent loan at Bremen) . Oscar is able to play as n10 or as offensive CM . It seems that he has no intention of leaving Chelsea. If Mikel leaves Chelsea will have to find another back up for Matic . It makes every sense to play 352, it would be much more difficult to with back four since we don't have true left back.

If we were to play a 3-5-2 with the players we currently have plus the ones it currently seems like we're most likely to sign then this is what I think it would look like.
Courtois/ Begovic
Koulibaly/ Cahill Terry/ Ivanovic Zouma/?
Dave/ Willian Baba/ Kenedy
Matic/ RLC Fabregas/ Oscar Kante/ Mikel
Costa/ Batshuayi Morata/ Hazard
On paper it doesn't seem too bad, however I don't think Kenedy, Oscar or Hazard are particularly suited to any of the positions. Playing Hazard upfront in a sort of Griezmann role, would leave almost £80m worth of strikers on the bench if we signed Morata too, and in the end he might not even thrive in the unfamiliar role. I also doubt that Batsuahyi has joined for £30m to become 4th choice ST.
It would almost certainly require that Pedro leaves as he doesn't fit in any of the positions either.

I would love Conte to play 3-5-2. I see Cuadrado definitely taking the RWB position. Not sure Dave is cut out to be a LWB, but could be a decent centre half like Ben Davies has been for Wales. Conte seems to have a real skill for man management and can draw blood from stone. I think we're going to be a force in the champions league season after next.
