How many of our squad actually pick themselves in our starting XI?
I say 5! And that's why we're not good enough. For me only Courtois, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Kante and Hazard walk into the team.
Rudiger has surprised me to be honest and has done very well when played I'm hoping he can cement his place.
Morata is a weird one. I don't know whether he just lacks confidence or he's personally just not as good as first thought.
Alonso picks himself on merit because we don't have anyone to challenge him. Emerson can't even start for Roma so he's got no chance for us.
Apart from being great with the ball Fabregas is a liability as he can't do nothing else.
Bakayoko and Drinkwater are too one dimensional neither are the box to box midfielders we need I. e Vidal, Nainggolan types who know how to attack and defend.
Moses And Zappacosta are both very average IMO. I'd give Dujon Sterling a go over both that lad is a beast.
Willian and Pedro are no longer good enough to start for us as both don't create enough or have a consistent end product.
That's just my personal point of view. We need to be aiming for the likes of Mahrez, Alex Sandro and Vidal to complete the holes in our line up and stop wasting money on squad players as we have plenty of them.

You're right about Alonso, he is a given on team sheets because there is no one to really challenge him. Same can be said of Morata and Moses; no judgement on their ability - just a fact when you look at our squad.

In my opinion, Chelsea lack quality in 4 positions, RWB, CM (Playmaker), RW and ST. I have an easy solution to this, stop with the "overpaying" for players malarkey that we keep on hearing, but still think it's okay to over pay for mediocre dregs. Get RWB - florenzi, CM - Dele Alli or Max Meyer, RW - Mahrez and ST - Icardi or Belotti. Seriously, you wouldn't think that we're one of the biggest teams in the world with our current transfer policy, it's a joke.

Truth is Emerson and Dzeko will sort out two of our problems instantly. Gives Alonso real competition for his place and we'll have a good back-up to Morata that Conte will trust and will have a much better impact in games than Michy. Can't see us doing much more bussiness after if this deal goes through but if we we're to make a late push and get Mahrez i think it'll be a fantastic window for us.

Good post LondonBlues. KingFrank i agree with your post too. Given that we are no longer a super power in the transfer market makes transfers difficult but for now i'll take Dzeko and Emerson which more than sorts out 2 issues. If Morata keeps missoig then he may find himself on bench, maybe he needs that kick. As for Alonso, he will get good competition with a fully fit Emerson who i think the fans will take a liking of.

Dele ali is not the answer for our problems. Barkely will do better.
