2 things bugging me more than they should

1) this Liverpool injury crisis, 2 of the players have made 1 prem appearance this season, Nunez is ok, Trent and szobaszlai are doubts, not ruled out, there out of Luton game but not been ruled out of cup final, there even talking about salah recently coming back from injury recently, the media bias is sickening, we still have 9 injuries, the presenter on Sky just joked that there's another team playing in cup final

2) tuchel went to Bayern, got knocked out of 6 cups and 8 points behind in the league, fell out with players which reportedly happened at us, played his pragmatic football ( which at Bayern they expect more ) and chelsea fans online are begging him to come back next season like his prime Jose,

Martin - I am a Liverpool fan and I can tell you that we do have an injury crisis right now.

Big first team players currently missing are: Alison, Trent, Szobo, Matip, Jones, Salah, Jota and Nunez, plus Thiago who has been injured all season, That's 9 without counting Bajectic, who would be in the team if fit.

We all get injuries, but to have so many first choice players out at the same time is a pity. Fans want to see their best players on the pitch, especially in a final.

I know Chelsea are suffering too.

For me I have never considered the Carabao Cup to be a major trophy as I would much prefer to concentrate on the League. So I was far happier to beat Luton tonight.

I hope Sunday's game is a good watch for us all though.

Sorry Matt but liverpool have a worse injury crisis than we do. We only have james as our first 11 player injured, lavia, fofana, etc are squad options. Liberpoil on the other hand are missing multiple first 11 starters.

22 Feb 2024 08:06:54
At one stage this season we had 13 FIRST team squad players out injured. Just get on with it.

In my opinion ALL players in the recognised squad are FIRST team players. The managers team selection is just a game by game event as far as I’m concerned.

22 Feb 2024 09:12:26
How did we all know you would say that Standard. Lol.

22 Feb 2024 09:20:37
I expect that at least a couple of the Liverpool players who are injured now will be in the starting 11 come Sunday.

22 Feb 2024 10:40:02
Strangely a scouser supporting mate of mine thinks that they haven’t missed Salah while he was injured and at AFCON.

It’s what squads are for. At least Klopp isn’t using it as an excuse. It’s only the scouser pundits (lots) who keep bringing the subject up and that’s really the point Matt is making.

22 Feb 2024 10:54:20
G8 glad you think I'm rational and can be a chelsea fan at the same time without constantly pining about how hard we have it. Cheers for recognising mate!

22 Feb 2024 12:03:30
Whooooooosh!

22 Feb 2024 13:19:03
Hey TomB - I bet you'd be quite happy to play us on Sunday without Alison, Trent, Szobo, Jota, Salah and Nunez. Whoever we play will try as hard as they can to make a game of it though.

About the scouser pundits bringing it up, who was it who posted above about Chelsea having 13 players out? Errrmmm let me think.

22 Feb 2024 13:37:01
KBL, what's your prediction? Even with the missing players, let's be serious, Liverpool are currently a far better team than Chelsea are. I personally see a tighter game than last month but Liverpool score the chances that Chelsea miss.

Out of interest, would Alisson have played this game? I was under the impression Kelleher was the LC goalkeeper - he played when you beat us on penalties a few years ago right? Are Salah, Nunez and Szoboszlai all confirmed to be out?

22 Feb 2024 16:10:04
KBL, any reference to Chelsea having thirteen squad players was for earlier in the season. Strangely not many if any pundits mentioned it. We now apparently only have nine injured players. Ho hum we will just get on with it.

Trying “to make a game of it” is the best thing to do, as per Klopps quote today. It’s betting than making an excuse pre-match.

I’m personally not very confident of our name being on the trophy Sunday night.

I have not spoken to single scouser supporter who thinks they just have to turn up to win. I guess that is reasonable when we are languishing in tenth while the team you support are at the top of the premiership. We must have zero chance!

22 Feb 2024 21:10:42
Standard, we have your number mate. Carry on though as it is fun. lol.

22 Feb 2024 21:50:22
Klopp said at semi final kelleher got them there so would be unfair to not play him, so Allison missing makes no difference

Salah Nunez Szoboszlai haven’t been ruled out, klopp said they will see how there are today / tomorrow possibly same for TAA, 2 of the other key players that MOTD and sky post are bajcetic and Doak ( 1 game between them in prem this season )

My issue is all this makes us look even worse if we don’t win, when like mentioned above. Liverpool are a better more balanced team at the moment and are
Still favourites, I’m critical but all this seems
Like a stick to beat us with when headlines will be “ billion spent and injury hit Liverpool still come out on top “

I think it’ll be close. 2-1 chelsea ( heart over head )

22 Feb 2024 22:28:39
Badiashile silva fofana james lavia ugo cuccurella Sanchez carney,

Let’s see come Friday / Sunday, i guarantee this crisis has salah and Nunez AT LEAST, in the squad . It’s typical Liverpool media outrage, we’ve only just got into single digit injuries for a game day but there’s no talk or mention as it’s “ well they spent a. Billion injuries sort of it “.

23 Feb 2024 08:27:30
KBL I feel like you’ve missed the point Matt was actually trying to make. I don’t think he was ever insinuating that Liverpool don’t have their current injury concerns (even if some are potentially able to make it) . It was more that media and pundits have mentioned it and acknowledged their predicament, whereas we’ve had our injury concerns basically all season long and we barely if ever get any acknowledgment of it. It winds me up too tbh. Just my two cents though - I could be completely wrong!

23 Feb 2024 11:24:45
I agree Cech,

It was the same when Newcastle and Man u had injuries but not a jot about us, it just gave the Northern media Squak sports abd Sly sports news a stick to hit Bohely and co with saying our players were not worth the money however at no point this season have we been able to put out our strongest team.

I think if the teams mentioned had the same injury crisis, the fans would probably have gone into a dark room, locked the door and threw away the key.

23 Feb 2024 15:51:48
There is some media bias towards Liverpool, but its nothing like what people pretend it is. It's mostly down to the fact that lots of high-profile pundits are ex-Liverpool so naturally there is going to be a favourable slant.

That said, you can guarantee that their injury problems will be used as a stick to beat Chelsea with if we lose. The coverage of Chelsea has been staggeringly basic since the takeover. Basically any article about us can be reduced down to 'they've spent loads and are rubbish' or 'Boehly is an idiot' without actually saying anything interesting.

23 Feb 2024 15:57:57
Unless it’s Tim Sherwood who says a lot worse about players and owners.

23 Feb 2024 18:07:18
Hope you are improving Tom.

I would not worry about Sherwood, another player who failed miserably in management.

23 Feb 2024 21:30:19
Bill, I’ve sadly had a bad couple of days but that was to be expected.

I’m hope to be cheered up enormously on Sunday. It’s my grandsons birthday!

23 Feb 2024 22:16:02
Let's hope you have a good day on Sunday, Tom, regardless of the result. Football comes well down the priority list when it comes to health and family.

25 Feb 2024 02:45:03
Rbd, 2 weeks ago against wolves we lost 4-2. The only notable injuries were Reece James (huge loss) and Colwill. Lavia has been out all season so we don't even know if he's in our strongest 11 but this notion that we're 10th only because of injuries is just a bit of a lie. Reeve James has been a huge huge loss but we have sufficient squad cover that injuries to a few plauers shouldn't matter. We just haven't been good enough. Simple. Liverpool without salah and van dijk would still spank teams as would city without kdb and haaland.

25 Feb 2024 03:42:15
That’s it “injuries shouldn’t matter. ”

No excuses for either team today. Don’t tell the pundits.
