Chalk and Cheese unfortunately from Wednesday night. Subs needed to be made at half time!

Agree0 Disagree0

Awful first half. Shockingly bad. It's like they learned nothing from the game against Villa.

The laziness is incredible. Where does Cole Palmer and Jackson play for this team. What has happened to Gusto’s quality. Madueke, really son?

12 Feb 2024 21:14:52
Consistently inconsistent our team. They should play to win every game but reckon they played in top hear v Villa cos a trophy at stake. Not goodvenough. Better be a fantastic second half effort.

Eating my humble pie by the shovel full and enjoying every bit of it. Good 3 points. Brilliant to score in 90+ minutes haven’t done that much this season.

Stephen60 calm down boy.

12 Feb 2024 22:30:37
Stephen, we did it at home to Palace.

Thankfully we got the three points we needed.

We are still just one of two teams that can do the domestic treble! hahaha!

It’s down to poch. It was obvious no press just wanted to recycle the ball hoping for an opening, which will never happen playing so d so low. We play 10 times better quick and pressing.

13 Feb 2024 11:14:45
Is it solely down to Poch, or is it a combination of factors including:

A young squad who haven't shown any ability to maintain performances across 90 minutes, let alone game to game

A 39 year old CB who has to sit 15 yards deeper than the nearest other Chelsea defender due to his lack of pace, which slows the ball down in possession by dragging players away from others

Chronically inconsistent performances from attacking players who would be best served spending a year (or two) on loan in the Championship to learn their trade

Injuries consistently disrupting any connections we try and make on the pitch

A manager trying to toe the line between winning now, developing undercooked young players, ensuring the big money signings see the pitch (deservedly or not) and juggling perennially injured players.

Agreed RBD. Thiago (who is one of the best CDs I have seen) has come to the end of the line. The team plays slower and are more predictable with him in. On another note, if the board are keen on pure profit to balance the books surely Connor has pushed Reece James (Real Madrid? ) to the front of the queue? Because let’s be clear, Connor Gallagher WILL make Spurs better.

13 Feb 2024 12:06:02
I would be extremely reluctant to push Reece out the door. We all know the injury aspect, but now he has had this surgery, we have to see if he can return to regular fitness. KDB has had something similar and looks like he's returning well enough.

When James is fit and firing, he's a game-breaking talent. I LOVE Gallagher as any regular posters will know, but Reece is a level above. He completely shuts down the opposition's left hand side by himself, it is remarkable. He is a truly world class talent, in a squad that is sorely lacking such players.

But yes, it is utterly moronic that we will end up selling Gallagher - let's just be honest about it. I understand why it is going to happen, but I just disagree with it, simple as. He offers things that every single manager desperately wants and is the exact kind of player we would be being linked to if he played for another club.

As for Silva, it's paradoxical but we seem to play much more coherently without him in the team despite him being by far and away our best CB. Tuchel figured it out quickly enough that he needs to play in a 3, so I don't know why Poch has been unwilling to try this more often.

Lads, it will be a sad day when Silva leaves our club as a player but we can’t stop old Father Time.

I’m not sure we have sorted out how we play with a 433.

Nowadays Silva struggles in a four but more importantly the midfield three continue to get out of shape leaving each other isolated. If that makes sense. As fans we then criticise the midfield player who loses the ball but never the players who don’t show themselves as available to receive the ball.

To see a City midfield three support one another is just like watching clockwork. There have only been a few occasions this season when I’ve seen our midfield worked in a similar way.

Just to clarify. I don’t want any of the proven YA products to leave. I want James and Gallagher both to stay. Not enough Englishmen in the team for me. and I’m
a Scot. But this FFP balancing the books malarkey ain’t going away.

13 Feb 2024 19:41:56
Stephen, unfortunately you are correct. With a relatively small stadium, no prospect of Champions League football and the ever changing financial regulations we do not have any wiggle room to increase revenue. The club do not have many options other than the sale of players to keep on the right side of the line.

14 Feb 2024 16:42:39
We have a supposed £50m for playing in this summer’s strange tournament. I’m not involved in the marketing of the club or in its ability to create extra revenue streams. It could well be that our new owners will negotiate stadium naming rights as a souring of extra annual revenue. At the moment we are just guessing at our clubs future financial position. I assume we have generated extra revenue from our league cup run to the final. We are also still in the FA cup and that can be an extra revenue stream.

It is very unlikely that we will get into a Champions league spot (top 5) but I still think we can find a route into one of the other two European competitions.

Like most clubs we will buy and sell players in the summer window and while I’m sure our new owners would have preferred us to be maximising our revenue streams, I very much doubt it’s as gloomy as some would have us believe.
