Right serious questions and would like opinions.

The main question is what is going on? I mean we are 2 weeks away from the start of season and we have 14 first team players rest made up with youth. 4 comps and we're weaker and no signs of new players arriving!

Why can't we attract top players?

Why are the club not supporting conte? Yes we have spent but we also sold and sold top talent as well. This is a mess and I can still see conte walking.
We seem to win the league and then not seem to want to push on. If the club are holding the money for new stadium then tell us! Be honest with us tell us what's going i on we would understand and deal with it and support the club.

Just a worried fan that's all don't shoot me down.

It's clear that year after year, we miss out on our first choice targets. Couple years ago it was falcao, Cavani, after that modric, couple years ago Bonucci, last year Koulibaly, this year Lukaku and Sandro.

While it also may be a combination of other clubs 'screwing us around', we also seem reluctant to just get the deal over and done with.

City don't get screwed around because instead of them slowly raising there price for the player, they just pay straight up what the asking club want and get it wrapped up.

Obviously that's not exactly what happens, but it's what I reckon happens.

{Ed002's Note - Lukaku was not forgiven and was never going to sign. There is no reluctance to complete transfers. Chelsea do not slowly raise the price.}

We've gone in right direction regarding balancing the books which in turn means we budget and don't want to pay over the odds for players, every player has there value. I do think we needed / need to act quicker built ed002 will probably confirm we are trying. But 100% agree we are weaker and thinner on the ground and st this time cannot see more than 2/ 3 coming in. 1 x cm 1 x wingback 1 back up striker maybe?

31 Jul 2017 11:50:52
While I agree with Ed002, you said we had drifted into a tentative agreement for Sandro- why didn'r we push it through?

{Ed002's Note - It is not a case of "pushing iot through". You clearly don't grasps even the basics.}

Just relax guys and let it flow, it seems that we haven't got a team to play at all. Spurs bought fu*k all, Liverpool nearly same.

One day few of you shout to give youngsters a chance next day you want 4-5 signings.

31 Jul 2017 14:21:13
I want 3 quality signings at CM, RWB and LWB. Keep Baker, Musonda, Boga and Christensen. Squad looks a lot more solid, plus the likes of Tomori/ JCS for cover.

31 Jul 2017 14:44:27
Squad looks solid? Solid enough but good enough to cope with 4 competitions with midweek games, no chance,

31 Jul 2017 14:58:30
I mean it looks solid with the above acquisitions.

31 Jul 2017 16:03:33
What I don't get is that we are 7th richest club in the world but we don't pay the money like city etc etc they just pay up and get deals done! Why is there a penny pinching approach in the transfer market.

Just seems every team pays out and FFP doesn't get mentioned.

the only thing I have seen as a slight worry is squad depth. but in reflection I don't think it is a big issue. see below -

TBO caballero Eduardo 1/ 3
Cahill luiz rudiger Christensen azpil (3/ 5)
Moses Alonso azpil kenedy ( yes we need another wing back) 2/ 4
Baker fabregas bakayoko kante 2/ 4
Willian pedro ½
Hazard musonda ½
Morata batman ½ ( we do need another striker)

so if we got one striker in and a versatile wing back I think things are ok. if we get 2 wing backs things are good and if we get another CM things are great!

Bakayoko
caballero
rudiger
morata
Christensen
baker
musonda.
I know some are returning loanees but that's 7 new players to our squad.

I'm going to save Ed the hassle and say that's not how it works KP82.

After we last won the title with Mourinho that team was never going to be good enough to repeat the feat the following season. The transfer window saw us linked with 'maybe' Pogba, 'maybe' Griezmann and a raft of others and look who we ended up with, Djilobodji and Co and I believe that impacted Mourinho's attitude and behaviour for the rest of his stay. After winning last year and the steps others are making to mount a challenge our team was not good enough as it was to win this coming season and I do wonder as good as some of the new players are, how many were on Conte's wanted list. You cannot help note a hint of frustration in his interviews and his contract is improved not extended and I would worry if we get off to a poor start what Christmas will bring.

31 Jul 2017 17:04:46
With a few new acquisitions our squad depth will improve as we will he able to cope with 4 competitions however is our squad good enough to win those competitions. I'm not wing negative I'm being honest. Is or teams tronf enough to compete in te champions league and even the prem? We had an incredible season but we can play the same wth the same players because it showed onwards the end of the season teams were starting to figure us out. We need world class signings not average ones. I like morata he's a good striker bu we could have bought someone better, same goes for rudiger. We need papers to go straight into our starting 11 and compete to be the best player in our team. We need more hazards/ kantes/ Azpis etc.

31 Jul 2017 19:04:41
It's interesting because a debate has raged on our pages along the same lines - we don't get our first choices, why don't players want to come, how can this happen when we are so rich, it's not confined to Chelsea.

31 Jul 2017 20:44:34
C1955 are you the old c1915? Your posts are very similiar and normally negative just as his were or is this a coincidence? Just asking? Remember last season a lot of negativity and we early on and yet we won the league.

31 Jul 2017 21:01:24
G8: Sorry the C1955 is the year I saw my first game (v Wolverhampton Wanderers) I never saw any games in 1915! To some it is negative but to me I am observing similarities. Mourinho was everyone's hero and his demise was staggering and he complained about not having enough input to transfers and the inference is that Conte is in the same position. Just like Mourinho and Portuguese players you would expect Conte to lean towards Italians and we have names thrown around but nothing as yet and a first trophy game looming Sunday followed by the start of the title race and you would expect a club of our size to have most players in situ already. At my age I have seen so many self inflicted lows with the club I hope they would have learnt a lesson by now. Question for you: We won the title but were we the best team last year?

31 Jul 2017 21:54:52
Thankyou for your reply c1955.I can understand why some fans get worried but the club have a plan and way of doing things. They will not sway from their principles and any manager must fit in with that. It works as well. We win a lot of trophies. I have great respect for what Jose did but he pushed the line too much. You don't do that to a man like Roman.

The club will get it right, we are clearing the wage bill, players who do not fit in anymore and players no longer good enouth. New players will follow and we will challenge. The blueprint is strong. Sadly, the written press often write negative articles about chelsea and too many on here read and react. It is time to be positive. As far as the best team last season? Obviously Chelsea as they won the league. The table does not lie!

Could Man City have won it? Of course, with the squad they had but Pep got it all wrong. Could Spurs? Possibly? But they have no bottle as was seen in the West Ham game away. The rest? A long way behind and still are. Just my opinion but thanks for the question. Cheers.

Why did we match uniteds bid then if he wasn't 'forgiven'?

{Ed002's Note - You would be surprised if it all came out - he was never signing for Chelsea.

31 Jul 2017 22:24:15
Why did we match uniteds bid then if he wasn't 'forgiven'?

{Ed002's Note - You would be surprised. I have explained over and over there was zero chance of him signing.}

31 Jul 2017 23:12:38
I was always optimistic especially since Conte took over, but now I'm so worried. We have lost so many important and influential players since January. Replacing player with another player is not replacing simple number for number there is so much more to it.

Dressing room is so important but one who had never been at the club doesn't know that. I'm worried that we. will lose Conte soon and that something bigger is happening to the club.
