Two things in this post:

1)What are your predictions for the score tonight against Barnsley? We won 6-0 against them in the Carabao Cup earlier in the season in game at the Bridge of course, so same again? or will Barnsley be tougher proposition on home patch? I will go for 4-0 to CFC.

2)How would you get the best out of Ziyech who has been a bit disappointing recently after a v bright start for CFC?

Agree0 Disagree0

I’ve got it down as a 5-0 win but as my fellow posters will know, the only people getting rich my my correct score betting are the bookmakers. I’ve also got Tammy Dow as the first goal scorer.

I’ve said before that Ziyech reminds me of Malouda.
I think he will eventually be a success. Putting aside his first few games he has so far IMO disappointed.

Tammy Dow is he the new Chinese signing brought in to sell shirts in Asia?

Ziyech compared to malouda has got to be one of the worst shouts I’ve ever seen. Both completely different players.

I'm going to be boring and say 5-0 too.

I'm not convinced it'll be possible to see the best of Ziyech in this league. Great when he has time, but he's getting closed down much quicker than he's used to. Also doesn't press well enough, so I unfortunately struggle to see a place for him in the side.

I doubt it’s the worst shout you have ever heard Benny. My last two score predictions have been far worse.

Good spot though, they are different players.

I feel like the pressure is on now “j”. Fingers crossed.

I'd say 2-0, because we don't score a lot of goals these days.

I agree with you J about Ziyech. He is a luxury type player that doesn't have a great work rate and I think his stamina is not quite great as well. It would be brilliant to see him flourish in the PL but it has been very hard thus far.

Perhaps he would be better suited to play in the middle, maybe as a RCM, but I don't know really how we can make it work.

I'm also a bit worried about Pulisic as well.

It’s early days with Ziyech. I think he will become a very good addition to the squad.

Interesting comments on Ziyech and my question came from genuinely being unsure as what to make of himat times. I guess pace may be a problem, but we know he has got a good pass on him and have wondered myself at optimistic times that there might be Cesc type creativity there that could make up for Ziyech's lack of pace. Anyway thanks lads.

Tom, I am pleased you have gone for 5-0 as seem to recall that when fllowing dome of your earlier good shouts we were 1 goal out on the optimistic side, and since i have it as a 4-0! But so much depends on what energy we bring or want to bring to the game and of course how resulte Barnsley are.

Come on TomB; the only similarity between Ziyech and Malouda has got to be that both players are left footed.

11 Feb 2021 17:45:33
OK obinna,

You are correct both are left footed

Malouda was a player I liked but not as much as the Drog. He played on the left but very rarely hit a first time cross but always preferred to take at least one touch. This for me always slowed down our build up play. Obviously playing in the Drog and Lamps era always meant his assists were high and if remember correctly he scored in about 1/ 4 games for us. Not bad for a wide player. For me he also wasn’t blessed with blistering pace.

Ziyech is also a player I like but he hasn’t hit the ground running but as I’ve said it’s early days.
He seem to always play on the right but like Malouda and only from what I’ve seen this season he also wants an extra touch and therefore slows the play down.
Obviously playing on the right and being predominantly left footed it would not be natural for him to cross a ball with his first touch and to compare that aspect his game with Malouda would be unfair.
Also, any chances created and goals scored comparisons would also be unfair as Malouda had about 6/ 7 years in the Premiership.

As I originally said on this subject I think like Malouda, Ziyech slows our play down but I also pointed out. that it was early days.

Ziyech, so far, hasn’t pulled up many trees. Notwithstanding his injuries.

That was my very minor comparison.
