Just wondering what people's honest opinions are on here about Fabregas because I've been slated on here in the past for saying he's not as good as what people make him out to be. Yes I do think he is one of the best passers of the ball in world football but too often I think we're playing with ten men especially when he's in the midfield two. I'm hoping we go to 4-3-3 when Conte arrives which will also help Loftus-Cheek and Matic more I think and it will help Cesc more but his defensive side is still really poor. Someone like Gundogan although we aren't interested would be much better for us as apart from goals he's basically the complete midfielder who has an engine and he's great on the ball.
Just wondering what other people's opinions are and yours also Ed?

I think he's a world class players with many years left in him, but he has to adapt his play, so he can be more like Pirlo is and has been for the last couple of years. If he succeds in adapting his play, I think he'd become the next Pirlo.

Cesc is an absolute must for us, great technically and creates so many chances with his vision and football brain. Yes, he needs protection behind him but those players are easier to find. The truly gifted ones like Cesc are hard to come by. Play him in a midfield 3 with a solid and mobile defensive midfielder behind him and leave him to dictate the play.

If you seen his interview on sky sports then you would realise that the guy is a class act. He knows that for his game to tick then everyone around him has to work even harder. Going on the group of players we have at the moment then he has to start every game, not sure what formation suits him best but his vision and one touch passing are some of the best in the business. I wouldn't be surprised if conte gave him the armband for next season.

I think he has been our best player in the second half of the season, what we need to do is find the best system that suits him, defensive midfield isn't playing to his strengths we need to use his vision and passing and get others to do the dirty work for him.

He will not use 433 and yes he build a team around Fabregas as main playmaker.

And Fabregas can't play like Pirlo since Pirlo is much more defensive and Fabregas much more offensive player.

Fabregas needs the men behind him and in front of him. At the moment Willian Oscar mikel ruin him.

As others have said he is very much a luxury player that requires two very mobile midfielders next to him however if you build a system around him he is a very good player that can dictate the tempo and hit passes that only maybe 3 other people in the world can play. The current system doesn't suit him in the slightest.

I think cesc legs are shot to bits but yet we play him deep and that's why we get over run in midfield! He has to play no10 or nothing! If you going to play him deep you got to play 3-5-2 and do what conte did with pirlo which might work but how do you fit hazard in playing that way.

In the 3-5-2 you can fit Hazard in as one of the front 2, I think this could be his best position but again only with the right players in midfield.

exactly Pinky. There are not many players like Fabregas and people who don't understand philosophy of Italian coaches would not be able to understand why is Fabregas ideal n10 for Conte.

Conte accommodated Pirlo by playing a 3-5-2 system and I would expect him to do the same for Fab.

If cesc plays it no10 or nothing! You can't play him anywhere else unless conte does what he did with pirlo! I can't go through another season of watching him play deep in a 2! He is lightweight no pace. Watch him at Barcelona in false 9 or just off the striker he was unreal and got goals. Special player that we using all wrong! Yes he can pick a nice ball over the top but he also better at finding them little passes that cuts open a defence.

I always read people suggesting that Cesc should be played in a more advanced position but in the 2 seasons he's been with us, when given a chance in a more advanced role what has he done? If anything he's less effective there. I think we need to see him in a midfield 3 with a more defensive minded player and an energetic box to box player (Matic (? ) and Nainggolan perhaps) . If we are really after Pjanic I'm not sure how both him and Cesc fit in the team though.
