I do understand posters giving Lamps pelters.

It is not as one poster suggested, Lamps fault that Werner has no first touch but I do agree Lamps has to take responsibility for the position he plays. I'm not sure Werner was ever asked to track back in Germany.

Havertz playing wide was partly out of necessity and it's not Lamps fault he got CV but I agree he should be played in his best position or not all unless it's an emergency.

The seeming lack of effort by some players yesterday was a worry as were the lazy challenges by James and Kante.

We go again tomorrow so, COME on MY MIGHTY BLUES .

I agree Tom.

I have been on Lampard's side and I'll still support him until the end, but for me it is a concern that he is so insisting on some of the things that are not working.
Aside from Werner and Havertz playing out of position, I don't get it why he is using the same 433 that has been pretty bad for quite some time.

I hope to see a change and we need a win.

I think Werner has played himself out of form Tom. Honestly, I've followed him for far too long to accept that this is the real Werner. Adaptation is always hard when you join a new league but he started well. What we are seeing now is a man low on confidence, no self belief and afraid to take risks. Playing as a traditional winger has affected his mentality because his never been renowned for his defensive work and his not a person that can dribble and cross the ball like a Pulisic or a Ziyech. His asset has always been running behind the defence and stretching them I. e. Brighton and Southampton (two games he started as a CF) . He was bought to be a striker so I'm not sure what's happened. Right now he deserves the bench for his own good.

Kai is an interesting one, I felt he was doing really well, taking a lot of risks and being positive until that Southampton error. Since then his just been keeping it simple. Not sure what's happened, maybe a mentality thing but this is where Frank needs to step in.

Werner hasn’t got a first touch and that must have been seen when he was playing in Germany.

Some posters have said he is a Vardy type player, I think he will score goals for us but not as a wide player and he obviously has zero desire to track back.

This situation is for Lamps to sort out. I think he will but I can understand fans anger and anxiety.

Ash spot on with your view mate 👍.

I agree with you tom. While FL makes mistakes it's not like he doesn't have a clue of what's the best position for each of the players. But lacks courage to drop big names. Jorginho and havertz are prime examples from yesterday's match where we needed Gilmour and Giroud in their place. But I command him for making early substitutions yesterday. Also our current team is very unbalanced bcos of 2-3 gaps in the overall formation. Match by match I keep seeing the need for ampadu in dm role and he is wasted at Sheffield. That moves us to the man of the hour i. e. rice. I think he will be bought in Jan given lamps also realises the gaping hole midfield has. Also the system lamps plays needs two good wingers and effective mf runners. Yesterday kante had a bad match and werner is no winger. When cho came on we were much better. But lamps can't play other formations he knows like 442 or 4231 as mf is very lopsided and need for a rice/ ampadu type player to pair with kante. Further the best way to get werner and havertz in to form is to allow them to play thro centre as a pair ( like Drogba and Anelka) given their chemistry and knowledge of each one's game. Example from yest match was when werner drove at arsenal defence only for Tammy to make the wrong run of coming towards werner than moving towards right wing to give werner space and passing option. This is due to lack of understanding of werner's game by Tammy. But for us to be able to use 2 players upfront we need a compact mf and we don't have one now. The only other option is to use 3 at the back with havertz in hole and 2 up front. But again our mf may not with stand the opp. Fb attacks. But that's the only option other than 433 now given the resources. But once cho and ziyech are fully fit I don't think we will have much of a problem with our current way of playing. Also I hope lamps bring some changes in our play style for eventual injuries to not affect our playing style and thereby affecting results.

Ed001 your thoughts are welcome.

{Ed001's Note - it must be said that letting Ampadu go out on loan is probably the biggest mistake the club made for this season. Every time I see you play I just think how perfect he would have been sat there in midfield and how he could have been learning off Silva in training.}

Constructive post Madblud. I also agree with the Ampadu comments from you and Ed.

{Ed001's Note - the worrying thing is that it is not hindsight, we all thought Ampadu should have stayed and been in and around the regular XI.}

TBH Tom our very own Antonio Rudiger said he would have a similar impact to Vardy. I don't doubt him one bit, its hard for a striker to play as a LW. Its equivalent to Sergio Aguero coming to Man City and being deployed a LW. If that happened then maybe his legacy wouldn't have been written the way it has. Werner in Germany was actually really good, his 1st touch was good. But right now he can barely control a ball so deserves peleters. His confidence is gone Tom, needs time on the bench to clear his head.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, in Germany Werner did play on the left at times in Germany.}

Maybe Tomori refusing to go out on loan didn’t help with any decision to keep Ampadu with squad or morel likely they just wanted him to play some regular fist team football.

Interesting point about Werner playing wide left on occasions in Germany. Ed.

In the Premiership generally wide players are asked to track back, on yesterday’s evidence that isn’t something he wants to do.

{Ed001's Note - defending is much more lax generally in Germany. I have seen players literally just dive out of the way of Sancho when he is on a run there. So it is probably a bit of a shock to him how different it is here playing that role, with defenders who actually try to get in the way.}

Hi ed001, I too pull my hair out watching ampadu playing for Sheffield when he is needed here.

Also I agree werner can play on left. But if it's a centre back or midfield Manning the wide areas then he can't be efficient as hee needs space to run into which a full back like James, Trent gives him. But all the games where he was not effective it's a cb or dmf Manning that space. Everton played a cb at fb who didn't burst forward. Again arsenal had holding over on that side. He can play winger only against a team like Liverpool whose style matches the requirements. Otherwise he is suited only to play as cf or lone striker.

Bundesliga is so soft that Christensen actually looked like the prime JT 😅

And I agree with everyone that Ampadu should have stayed.
