Honestly I don't get why Chelsea get so much stick for giving Frank more time.
Of course we are going to give him more time because he is one of us and because he has done so much for Chelsea.
What's wrong with that?

We’ve been abused by other fans for years for not playing the youth and not giving managers a chance. Now we’re doing exactly that, rival fans are now saying young players aren’t up to the task and we should sack the manager. I wouldn’t listen to them.

All people should obviously be treated with respect.
My view on Lamps is simple. He will always be a club playing legend.
He has to prove he has the ability to become a managerial legend.
Those two things for me are totally separate.

Not a thing Ashk. If you as a Chelsea fan can take the possibilities of not getting top 4 this year to allow the club’s greatest ever player to create a blueprint a build a new culture that is backed by RA in which Chelsea people make Chelsea decisions, that the YA is a real conveyor of talent that is linked to the Chelsea first team then surely it is worth the sacrifice. I believe that RA would like that identity to be established, the media wouldn’t, that would not suit their narrative at all that Chelsea promote their own. If not under Lamps then under who? A foreign coach who has no interest in the youth, or the club’s overall identity. People fail to recognise that when RA was hiring and firing all the coaches who came in had to do was babysit the group, so good was the spine of the team arguably the best in Europe there was no need to be THAT good. This new era without any of the big dogs on the pitch will take time. But with Lamps and Petr in position surely it is worth a year or two?

I agree RVD. That's just crazy. I have seen our fans say the same thing as well.
@TomB: I agree but my point is it's obvious we are going to treat him a bit different and that should not be surprising for anyone.

I take your point Ashk but for me sentiment cannot cloud any decision RA makes.
As everyone knows I want Lamps to stay for the full term of his contract. If that happens we will have been successful.
Some people seem certain that an immediate change would bring a change in fortunes. I am not convinced.

Good piece in the Mail online news webpage from a Chelsea fan’s perspective. Basically labelling sacking Lamps as idiotic. The piece basically eludes to what I would agree with, in that employing the young inexperienced manager was allowed because Frank Lampard had one other notable quality in his CV. Frank was and is arguably the greatest player ever to play for the club. The club have done the “hire win sack†malarkey. And although Chelsea have enjoyed unparalleled success in that time, the main reason for that success was the longevity of the key players that played, Lamps bring one of them. Lampard’s appointment is a change of direction, one which might mean a wee bit of pain in the short term, but if the board and the fans keep their nerve and the policy is positively embraced by everyone, surely a culture that means Chelsea will be run by Chelsea people with a YA that feeds into the first team but also dies not discount that purchases are still from the cream of the crop in world football might be realised. Keep the faith fellow Chelsea fans, you cannot enjoy real glory without having endured some pain.

Agreed Stephen. Whether Lamps is good enough or not, we should be doing things differently this time around and build a different culture.
