He couldn't get game time ahead of Rudi and AC and I think 25m is good money for him.
We have lots of good young defenders in the ranks as well and with Rice and Ampadu coming in Summer, I think he won't get much of a game time.

AC and Rudi both have a year left in their contracts. I expect them both to be sold next year.

Thats my thinking behind it Ash. I think Chelsea will look to sign a marquee CB. Tomori won't get a look in and so 25m is brilliant. The guys you've mentioned, Guehi, Mbuyamba etc.

I’d sell all of Rudiger, Christensen and Tomori and look for a top class centre back like Gimenez. Then bring back Guehi too to go alongside Zouma and Silva.

Don’t count on Rice on the summer: that is dependent on Lampard still being manager. I’m sure that the board think there are better and cheaper options.

We won’t get any marquee players if we don’t qualify for CL, any such player will be wanted by top European clubs : that’s the reality of it.

The CB position will look completely different next season, both Rudiger and Christensen likely to leave, rumours that Silva is looking at a return to Brazil and Tomori possibly signing permanently for Milan.
Guehi has probably been the best CB in the Championship this season, Sarr will be an interesting option if he continues his development in a similar fashion at Porto next year. Still looks like we could need two signings in the position during the summer.

It won't be 2 signings. Ampadu will probably be one of the main choices and we will buy a CB to partner Zouma. So it will be Zouma, new CB, Ampadu and probably Guehi.
I think we will get Rice and he will come whether we play CL or not. It's much more than that for him.
P. S: As mush as Silva been good for us this season, I don't think we
shouldd look at him as a starting CB past this season.
