Would be nice if Tuchel gives more minutes to Vale. None of our attackers are playing well and he's insanely talented. He could only improve things in attack.

Sincerely hope Tuchel considers him.

Every coach has a shortcomings and tt doesn't know how to pick attackers. Whoever sanctioned lukaku return should be sacked or at least demoted. i have never seen a useless striker. B4oja should have stayed instead of wasting money on a donkey syriker.

He does look a talent Jackson but I can’t see him getting many mins for the remainder of this season.

We are just a little bit short but I think I would look to put him out on loan until the end of the season and evaluate the situation next season.

Jackson, who is Vale going to replace? He is a talented young player; let’s not go overboard.

15 Jan 2022 21:03:39
Yes Jimbo because all our attackers are producing the goods haven’t they? Not for a long time except Mount.

15 Jan 2022 21:05:30
So, Blueblood if it was TT who gave the green light for Lukaku under your reasoning he should be “sacked or at least demoted”. Interesting!

Bruce, our attackers aren’t performing including Mount. My point is this persistent posts we get about academy players aged around 18 are world beaters:only Mount and Reece have proved themselves the others CHO, RLC are far from consistent performers. Players like Vale and Hall are at least 3 years away from the first team squad if they continue to progress which isn’t a given. The next academy players to potentially make a breakthrough are Gallagher and Broja. Shouting out for 18 year old academy players is naive.

15 Jan 2022 22:13:33
I will pick Vale ahead of Loftus Cheek; pick Hall ahead of Alonso; and would rather have Armando Broja as my main striker than Lukaku.

15 Jan 2022 22:45:34
Broja maybe next season. I think RLC will be sold in the summer until then he has a part to play. I also think the penny will drop regarding Alonso and he will be leaving as well in the summer.

Some fans at the start of the season were picking him over Chilly. Strange how things can change so quickly.

15 Jan 2022 23:47:06
Broja and Gallagher would start for us now you don’t know how good these players are till they go on loan so why not start them around senior players? I’d go with a Vale, Havertz, Mount front three. Sick of seeing Pulisic and Werner with a rubbish first touch giving the ball away with no technical ability and CHO with all the technical ability in the world but can’t finish to save his life. Ziyech is a lost cause for me now he just doesn’t suit this league.

Obinna, Hall isn’t physically mature enough to play in the Premier League he was suffering badly from from cramp in the last 15 minutes . Tom, not just fans TT was picking Alonso over Chilwell at the start of the season.

16 Jan 2022 00:44:32
Academy over hype, there’s a great step up in development squad to premier league, Cho was brilliant at that level, in the big leagues isn’t 5g 5a assists a season.

16 Jan 2022 05:43:42
Jimbo.56; What we need our wingbacks to do for the system to be stronger is link the play up properly and move move move, and Alonso can’t move. Without FLYING wingbacks (that can go and return), I am sorry to say that it will be beyond difficult to beat Manchester City.

16 Jan 2022 09:29:50
Jimbo, I get your point. He's young, doesn't have many minutes and is an unknown. But the attackers currently playing aren't really doing much for us. Look at Ziyech yesterday, he couldn't even complete the simplest of passes. Lukaku played very badly and was lackadaisical when pressing. Pulisic was largely invisible.

Now imagine Vale had started. Would we have won? Probably not. But would he have been worse than Pulisic or Ziyech? It's not really possible. Only way was up when you look at the performances on the pitch.

16 Jan 2022 10:31:49
We didn’t have to play Ziyech or Pusilic. We could have played Mount, Havertz, Werner or CHO. There was never a need to dip into our pool if youngsters.

16 Jan 2022 12:21:50
IMO we learned nothing yesterday we didn’t already know. City are better than Chelsea. Liverpool are trading water and as a result Chelsea may make some ground on them. And I mean may! Tomas is instinctively a defensive coach and has a problem trusting himself on how to deploy a transition into a thrusting attack. Chillwell and James are better than Dave and Alonso, Werner and Xiyech are not good enough. Sarr is coming along nicely as was Chalobah. CHO always manages to (horribly) fluffs his lines at the most crucial of moments. Silva is a Rolls Royce. Rudiger Kante, Kova, Mount and I think Havertz are proper. Pulisic looks lost, both tactically and individually, he has no natural instinct, he plays with zero personality and he continually loses the ball mostly by a simple miscontrol a poor pass or a bad decision. Kepa appears to have has moved from being absolutely wretched to a bread and butter run of the mill goalkeeper who is still amongst the poorest in the PL. I also think he could have done better with the goal, for me that ball wasn’t “tucked” into the corner. There is a wee bit of a debate around the signing of Rom. However I think Tomas has to play his part in this. His deselection of the big guy took a crucial 90 minutes V Liverpool off him, plus the selection of Xiyech and Pulisic to play off him I knew wouldn’t work as both are so poor. Also City’s CBs played him brilliantly. I think TT would have a problem with any CF in the world he is so unsure at that end of the pitch. I think Chelsea can have a good season and win the World Club, I think they will win the League Cup and I think they will scrape a top 4. However Marina or indeed the club have to decide on the proper mix of YA and cash signings, the record on this since 2017 is poor. Lamps brilliantly put the YA products on the agenda as a legitimate strategy, it has been the cash signings that have been the downfall from being a champion to fighting for fourth place. It was not yesterday’s result that was the problem it is the poor home performances that have done for Chelsea. On a side note I for one will be glad to see Pep leave City, as long as he is there City are the team that will win the PL.

Stephen some of what you say I tend to agree with. As for Kepa you obviously don’t like him but if what you say is true we have two bread and butter keepers, which is worrying. Lampard did not have choice about using academy players because of the transfer ban, if he is so brilliant why did he get a he sack or get a new position so far: what’s he waiting for the City job? . A proper mix of academy and cash signings: what does that mean? I don’t care about whether a player is bought or from the academy as long as they are good enough. Most of the players who have contributed to our success over the last 20 years were cash signings
Last time we were Champions how many academy players were in the team? Maybe you’ve got it the wrong way round.
