Hi Ed, s Just wondering if their is any truth in the potential rumours chelsea may yet hijack newcastles trippier bid according to respected jounalist fabrizio romano

Happy new everyone been a long while since i used the site life long fan super exciting season seems to have stiffled a bit in recent weeks we have been unlucky with injuries and C.V. this season, i personally think trippier and digne would be 2 great options and upgrades right now on alonso and azpi no disrespect to them what so ever.

{Ed002's Note - There are several sides interested in Trippier, I am not aware of any proposed “hijack” by Chelsea who have their own ideas and targets about how to address the Wing Back situation in the longer term.}

Thanks for your reply ed, could i ask and you don't have to answer if you have already done so, does digne move have any real truth or just speculation, in your opinion is digne a good player? and wondering if he just had a clash of personalities with benitez or is he a difficult characther to deal with.

{Ed002's Note - There are options Tommy. Digne is a good player who was of interest to Chelsea a while ago. But it is not a case of patching things up, it is a matter of looking forward as the club do not want to replace Chilwell. it is more likely that the club would look to replace Alonso, and with three LWBs out on loan they want to make the right decision for the long term. The options such as Theo H, Digne and Nicolas Tagliafico are all fine players but all would look at Chilwell returning next season and suddenly finding themselves as back up in all probability. The ideal solution for the club would clearly be Emerson - but that requires Lyon and the player to play ball. Maatsen may not be ready. Rahman is playing well but it would require Reading and the player to agree. There is an up and coming youngster the club are very keen on, but he would have to consider where he would fit in after the season end and has other options. The alternative is to utilise the skills elsewhere in the squad if Alonso were to get injured or need a rest.}

Thanks Ed that was a very good response i enjoyed reading this insight and it does make total sense the club are not willing to pannick and buy stop gap players or even players good but not likely to take the places of fully fit chilwell and james, 2 players ed i am very excited about are broja and galagher both having really strong seasons, and i agree it was a good personal decision for tino liva to leave to play regularly its a shame in another sense as he would now have a huge role to play, but no point crying over spilled milk we wish the kid all the best and maybe some day he may return who knows, happy new year ed and all the other eds hope you had a lovely festive period and won't be troubled too much over silly season this month.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks, we all hope you all have a good 2022.}
